Freezing fog overnight which periodically spread up onto the hills and then receded onto the lower ground in a repeating cycle. All vegetation, trees and bushes covered in rime this morning. Apart from the spells when the fog spread to the hills the sky was clear overhead and this led to the coldest December night since 2010 and the coldest night at any time since the end of January 2019. A sheet of Sc spread across the sky between 0900 and 0915 and has persisted since then.

    At 0900

     Temp; -4.0c

    24 hr max; -0.1c

    24 hr min; -5.3c

    Grass min; -9.2c

Rainfall in 24 hrs ending 0900; 0.2 mm

Mean wind speed; 1 mph NW

    4 oktas Sc

     Vis; 700 yds

Patchy lying snow but only 15% cover

Very late with my weather for today=no web/e mail thanks to fault in BY exchange.

Lowest overnight was actually just before midnight at -5.9C, the day began rather misty and overcast. Patchy fog for a time through the morning, some lovely frozen spiders webs on some bushes in the front. A day max of -0.8 C so an Ice Day, no idea when I had the last one, possibly December 2010 I suspect. Will have a search through my records later.

I suspect the late beast from the east was the last one John. Today at the moment is the coldest day since Dec 2010. If it keeps rising that may not be the case
