The first half of March 1931 was generally cold and especially cold around the 7th to 11th (CET: -1.0) in a strong easterly wind. It was largely dry to begin with just scattered snow flurries but a trough in the flow brought heavy snowfalls to many eastern areas around the 9th. Maxima were very low for March, indeed some places recorded an ice day during this period. Frosts were severe and very penetrating due to the strong east wind.

The second half of the month was much milder than the first and the overall CET ended as 4.2, despite the first half being only 1.2

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. Week Ahead: Cool but largely dry until later in the week, when low pressure returns

We keep a chilly northerly flow going through much of the coming week, especially noticeable in the east. Cloud and rain spreading south Monday, but after that, most places largely dry until later in the week, when it looks to turn more showery. Read the full update here
