Agreed, wouldn't at all be surprised to see features pop up at shorter lead times, often happens in unstable airflows!

Slightly off topic but are you the same Dave Allen from the Me..t Mon..key.. days..part of..the Bill.. Farkin.. clang?

With geese or was it Grebes and Virginia water? Not to mention Davina Davindra?

the models are showing snow now for next week, when do you think this will start appearing on the weather apps..for example my area has 5c and cloudy monday-wednesday

Already showing on my app where I am. But would never rely on apps for snow, as they change a lot.

I just hope we get a decent frontal snow event out of this upcoming cold spell. An all snow event with the heavy snow lasting 12 hours will do!

What a surprise, we got another hyped up winter cold spell.

What's the saying again, get in the cold first and the snow will follow? Because that worked out quite well back in December lol

I don't want to see a single flake of snow until next January. Let's get that sun on form plz.

I absolutely hate the idea of any snow! Luckily being in the south and on the coast with day temps around 6 or 7 it’s very unlikely to be around for long, even if it does snow! Would imagine more of a slush fest, which quite frankly can’t stand!
forecast sunshine and light winds next weds and temps of 7 so hopefully won’t feel too awful

I thought I had already created this thread a few weeks ago! 🤔

Edit: Looks like somebody renamed it for some strange reason.

I'm confused how it's meant to get colder when it's already 7c every day and it shows the same next week. That's not colder!

Tbh it will just be the windchill temps will feel colder but after all the grey cloud this week especially here on the Essex coast and that biting north easterly wind, I can’t see next week feeling any worse tbh if we get more in the way of sun then it might actually feel warmer out of the wind

I wouldn't pay much attention to the apps right now for next week.

Met office have issued a cold weather alert from next Monday up to Thursday.

I imagine this may be extended due to recent model output hinting at lengthening the duration of the cold spell & increasing frontal snow risk from the Atlantic later next week.

It was mostly discussion on summer so that thread is now an early thoughts on summer thread and this thread has been created solely for Spring. 🙂

I am personally looking forward to the prospect of another cold spell, and a snowfall or two would be nice.

I appreciate many are now wanting spring warmth, but snow rarely lasts that long in this country and there is plenty of time yet for spring warmth. Plus it's great fun for the kids (and some adults).

It'll be another snowless cold spell just like December. Just watch those snow amounts downgrade as we get closer to range. Best to let winter take one bite back so we can focus on a decent warm up and the first 20c of the year.

It's OK if I'm not travelling anywhere at that time. If I'm not then I'd take a window from 20th December - mid January. Outside that, milder. 🙂

Well surely not! ECM, heavily backed yesterday has us in south westerlies by Thursday! If the Met app is correct and the ECM , I get a 24 hour cold spell on Wednesday🤔

    • Wet March so far with more rain for the rest of the month, but hints of more settled weather early April

Despite a colder drier respite on Monday, staying generally unsettled to see out the rest of the month. But hints of some drier weather in early April. Read the full update here
