I’m too cold for the vast majority of the year in this country. I’m hoping for a warm up and some pleasant spring conditions. My body doesn’t handle cold well, but I feel fine in the heat.

On the inverse, I'm too hot for the majority of the year in this country, so lets hope it doesn't get too warm that quickly shall we. Peak of 16c or so this month, 18c in April, 20c in May and a cool, gentle summer with an average high of 18c or so and a maximum of 25c sounds nice. No high 30s-40c nonsense this time please.

I don't think current conditions are that unseasonable to be honest. This time five years ago much of the country was in the freezer, and five years before that too. Highs of 5-6c with a few cold nights are really nothing to write home about in the first half of March, especially when things seem to be going for an average high of 10-13c after that, which is exceptionally average. The only thing that won't be average about this March is the rainfall, that is if it lands, which it doesn't seem to be so far on the east coast...

So, now we've gone from 10-15 day winter wonderland predictions on the model thread to hoping for 3 hours of snow before it turns to rain

Shades of December 2021. The mad thread got very serious that month and it was all for nothing!

don’t think it would be snow. Air isn’t cold enough yet.

I stand correct. Radar does show sleet/light snow showers east London..

It is definitely snow I can hundred percent confirm. Took me by surprise I thought I was seeing things but definitely light snow is falling. Was not expecting this at all today. Just makes you think what can come this week without being forecasted . 😊😊

Been the most depressing start to March I remember since 2018.

Often the way these days sadly with another damp squib coming up?!

But it's 6c not that cold

No, but it's below average for early March, in the south at least.

I think only a lucky few will even see that! Just rain showers here today.

That's the average high for January and February.  I think it's more like 9 or 10 early March for southern England?  However, 6C is by no means exceptional of course!

My Dad used to say that the weather in this country is about as reliable as a baby's backside

When it comes to snow, and cold, it would appear that is more than the case.

6C in early March is like getting excited about 25C in July. A touch away from average but hardly worth 3months of continuous posts getting excited about it.

One run, and we've gone from wrist-slitting and self-flagellation to getting the sledges out! 😁

I always tell myself not to get excited when I hear snow forecasts as often it doesn't happen. This time it seemed a dead cert, I've just taken a look at the mad thread and it's all doom & gloom. I can't believe it, I thought it was a definite ☹

Where is it 6c, it's only 4c here, right down near the SE coast

In March 2018, we had snow on the south coast all the way to 0C 850hpa.

Not for here MwB.

I still have the 850's observations images from the radar during that event. We had a transition to freezing rain at -2°C.

Here it did start above freezing above, started as freezing rain, transitioned to snow later.

We'd already has several inches of snow before the transition to freezing rain.

Is that a UKV chart at +150 hours? I thought that model only went out to +120 hours..?

12Z only goes to 54 hours.

The posts, most of them are entirely justified due to excitement and some hope, I totally get that as FI charts spew out forever winter mania. It’s the 5 or 6 hardcore posters that know only too well that these charts are nonsense, they get me. Clearly there to get validation or something around that area in my opinion. One of them sounds so emotional at times you’d think we were going into battle and he rouses the troops for one more push.

Not sure anyone is getting excited about 6C, it's next week where the interest lies and that may well come to very little for many!

I'm talking the day before storm Emma I think, there was a small low that went north in the east, started as freezing rain then snow, for us next day was all rain with storm Emma, that light stuff probably wasn't reaching the ground
