Beverley Lass i assume it’s night mode which is a exposure delay so it picks up the colours more & a 3 second picture so it slightly ghosts if moved by say a hand movement slightly? Or something on those lines but i may be wrong

Fen Wolf Thanks, but I don't know if its that.
The multiple faint misty white arcs are all across my photo if you
close in to look.

Beverley Lass might just be the lense, it does it sometimes on mine when i try to capture the aurora at night.  But will show white rainbow arcs sometimes if it’s just blue twilight skies

Fen Wolf  Ahh thank you Fen Wolf.
The S10 is 2nd hand, but new to me. Trying it for the first time.
That's my main hope for it, to capture better any future aurora on 'night mode'
I will use a tripod too, to get the best out of the phone camera.
Cheers.

Weather-history Monday night it was  quite impressive but now it's faded, plus the moonlight has diluted it's appearance.

I saw the comet this evening , just about make out the tail naked eye before the moon got too high. I also managed to see the starlink train and the comet together for the second night in a row, without getting a photo. Yesterday the tripod mount died, tonight the lens wasn't wide enough to get both together 😃

Finally managed to see the comet through breaks in the clouds Thursday evening 17th.

Taken on Google Pixel 8a Night Sight/Astrophotography mode

Second 2 pictures, comet is top left of shot.

Comet was just about visible to naked eye before full moon rose properly from the garden today. This is a rough stack of 60 stacked and tracked exposures (ISO 1600, F4.5, 20 seconds) cropped in from 70 mm although an annoying cable has cut out any chance of getting a proper look at the anti tail

Was my Star Adventurer 2i with my camera mounted on top - does help exposure time for the comet even if it's not moving exactly with the stars

Just taken on the outskirts of Dubai on holiday. 65 photos should mean some fun stacking when I get the computer. Could not see it naked eye as it set into the light pollution sadly.

Is it easy to polar align? Or not necessary with short exposures?

Fairly easy once you know what you're doing but does take time to first know what you're doing!

This gives a rough idea

Jamie M Think I watched that one before but thanks.

I'm guessing you have been reading up on those seestar scopes.

Just noticed the comet in your Star adventurer photo.

I have been looking into them yeah and may get one for the convenience although I think you can still get better quality with a DSLR & star tracker if you know what you're doing with processing (something that I'm still learning!).

29 tracked ISO 1600 F4.5 20-second exposures, cropped in from 70 mm yesterday.

That was the setup, star tracker was running on low batteries (red light was faintly flashing and off at times!) so the tracking went to pot after about 10 minutes 🤣 although I hadn't noticed until I had stopped the exposures about half an hour later.

It's a nice spot but the occasional car blinding you with its headlights and random people looming on the pier behind you whilst you're polar aligning is a tad annoying!

Jamie M Good stack with the anti-tail.

The seestar seems more for DSO, the S30 might have a wideangle lens too.

Aye seems so - think I'll give it another couple years before I invest in something like that but it would be very handy to just be able to put it down in the garden and point it at anything

Weather-history it was incredible, a privilege to have witnessed it. It felt like a permanent feature such was the longevity, hopefully something else of that scale will materialise before the end of my days!

A quick drive out to Magpie Mine in Derbyshire under the brief clear skies to see Comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan–ATLAS) for the last time, a 4 minute photo-stack on the Pixel7Pro brought out some detail but in another few days it'll be lost to all but the best high-end telescopes.
