Was this the first warmer than average spring on record at the time?

I recall the April feeling quite warm and sunny. Also remember a thunderstorm on a Monday evening mid month.

May was quite warm and pleasant with an overnight thunderstorm in the London area on a Saturday night(think it was mid month) and more storms during the Sunday afternoon.
