The risk of thunderstorms is low, perhaps the odd sporadic flash of lightning but certainly nothing to get excited about. The main concern is the risk of locally severe weather along an active cold front moving east. Potential for strong wind gusts, perhaps even a brief tornado or two. You can see the cold front quite clearly on the UKV.

Thursday could be interesting with a cold pool higher up as referenced on todays met office deep dive....big showers and potential thunderstorms ( not on the scale of Sunday but pretty lively none the less)....a good day for cloudscapes too..

I do have waterproofs but didn't have time to put them on as the storm was already coming in fast when I pulled up. So I got thoroughly drenched 😂. It's part and parcel of the job though.

I was very tired when I got home. I was diverted a couple of times trying to chase the storms that popped up around Oxfordshire. Never caught them, but resulted in me getting home at 5:30am 🥱

Looks lwep, but I guess we'll see tomorrow. Definitely lots of little convergence zones in the flow.

Cold front doesn’t look very organised at the moment, all very messy.

Lol I though it was the small line that just went through here just now. I guess it's the whole mass if stuff over the north west then.

Yes, that's true. This may be due to uneven distribution of humidity.

Looking at the UKV posted above, and I think it's probably similar now, it looks like a large cold front, with lots of small areas of convergence, think it might stay messy, heavier ppn in converging areas, gaps in ppn where there is divergence.

Severe foe whole of UK 😱 wonder what I'll get living at the south east coast

Strong wind gusts mostly, we'll see if the cold front comes together a bit more here or not, not worried to much about flash flooding the way it is at the moment.

Met office have now issued a warning, it looks like it might get it's act together in the southeast. Warning starts at three, don't finish till early morning. That wind is already going for it now here.

Heavy stuff is coming up from the south now. So lots of rain is expected soon along the front.

Interestingly the latest UKV doesn't bring much rain to East Kent until around 9PM! All seems to stay NW of a line from Brighton - Tunbridge Wells - Maidstone - Sittingbourne until later on.

Might be why the weather warning is till 3 am, sounds like it's gonna stall, or at least move very slowly east.

Being in the general risk for today I`ll be watching out for any `lost` cells popping up out to the West

A little bit of mid level instability showing above the area atm

A decent amount of rainfall in Brentwood already. This system looks like just one large fast moving conveyer belt of rain coming from the south that's slowly drifting east. So the met office is spot on with their warning zone. Those along the diagonal will see rain heavy at times stay on them for hours until this conveyer belt shifts past them. I would be interested in knowing what the chances are for a tornado in the area. I would be shocked to hear of anyone in the warning zone staying dry this evening up until the morning.
