Have heard a few reports of thunder in the area at around that time, so no I don't think you were dreaming! I just had very heavy rain - but Horsham got a tornado! (see the storms and ex weather forum area)

We in Portsmouth had a thunderstorm pass over our location at around about 3am and there were lots of very heavy down poors through out the night.
