Well I for one have been grateful for dry days since the weekend. Moving stuff from one house to another, clearing the yard, running to the tip, all in the dry has been a blessing. It hasn't been very warm outdoors though, rather average 7 or 8C . This evening it started to drizzle.

RabbitEars I'd welcome some milder days. Because I just don't see the point in these single figure temps which don't really change by night either. What's the point in chilly weather without frost and snow? At least it's been mainly dry though. Problem is at this time of year is milder usually means wet weather 😫 hopefully we get some proper cold after Xmas. "As the days get longer the cold gets stronger "

Back from 3 nights in Prague and as forecast, the weather there was very similar to home, if not what you had over here but what could be expected in the run up to Christmas.

Tuesday was light snow which soon turned to wet sleet and Wednesday occasional flakes of the lightest snow and it was hovering around 3c during the day with no signs of frost at night.

Strangely there was a bit of snow on the ground in the area around the airport, not far out of the city but maybe it’s on higher ground.

a decent few days away though and somewhere I’d definitely go back to.

Very dark and overcast here, currently 6c. The ground is damp, it drizzled a bit yesterday evening I'm not sure if there was more over night.

7 sleeps until the daylight gets longer

I stumbled across this website the other day. Its basically someone going for a walk in April 2013. The pictures present scenes that I struggle to imagine happening going forward, at any time never mind in April. Since that ‘micro ice age’ of 2009-2013 there has only really been any sort of snowy spell in early 2018 and 2021. Since then even getting snow on the fells for longer than a day or two has been an uphill battle that we haven’t won.

Anyway, have a look and a reminisce!

Dark Horse A seasonal Xmas would be nice bright and chilly with frost perfect for an Xmas Day walk. I don't hold out much hope though 😄 Most years either are completely mild around Xmas or cold before or after.

Uninspiring weather today, a grey dank chilly cloak pervades everything, a classic run up dark day before christmas. Tomorrow should bring welcome sunshine, thereafter a return to grey clag or wind and rain.. mmm its all too predictable what this time of year brings.

Was drizzling till about 9.30am at rising bridge, remained cloudy all day there after. Felt slightly warmer than the previous few days as no wind. See if tomorrows blue sky comes off as I reckon this week I'd be lucky if we've seen a square inch of blue sky.

All the different weather forecasting pages on FB are talking about the next incoming 'named' storm, Eowyn? I can't really see anything on here yet

Wet, cold and misty with drizzle till dinner time.  Drier later in the day but temp stayed a steady cold 5°C, not a hint of sun.

I remember Atlantic 252 Early Spring light wise probably becomes more noticeable from mid Feb onwards, Feb school half term time as even mild weather in January is often murky mid Winter gloom that makes the day feel shorter than it is anyway. That's why I'm always keen on getting a proper cold calm crisp frosty anticyclonic spell in January, it makes what can be a very bleak month post the distraction of Xmas a little less aside from heating concerns of course. Jan 2023 & more briefly Jan 2024 saw a cold frosty mid Jan spell each with a smattering of snow.

Can't see much happening wintry wise this side of the New Year, looks like it is going to be a long hard slog this winter.  Still waiting the first air frost of the meteorological winter.

I hope 2025 is a much more interesting year than this year. 2024 is up there with 2002 as being one long borefest.
