Hi all, frost overnight here too though not sure of the actual temps we received. A clear as day journey into work this morning for me, no mist or fog this time.

A glorious morning in Dolgellau, clear skies, frosty and the moon was out. A great winter day ahead it seems.

The perfect winters morning. The temps really dropped yesterday after sunset. Other than the CET on here, where else gives the UK overall average temp?

Yes, another glorious start to the day and no sign of any early-morning mist, just a really nice sunrise. Noticeably cold though and de-icer needed on car windscreens in the road.

No worst feeling than having no de-icer, running late for work and the windscreen is frozen solid

-0.6c overnight… currently 4.4c blue skies again and bright sunshine ☀️… same as yesterday valley fog melting away… off for a wonder around town…

lovely day in the sunshine around Buxton yesterday and delicious lunch at the lamb inn on the way back… warmest it’s felt yesterday since we got back from Marrakech on the 30th December…

tricol  Hard to find. I use Manchester temps as a marker (middle of country) and work put as I'm going along. Arbitrary I know but often not far away when monthlys are releases by met

From 10.12 on the time in bottom left corner.

Pushed for time!

Great chart!

I'd be very dubious about that block being  pushed away so easily.

I think we may see short & medium tern upgrades here 👍

Day 10 It's not so much the block being pushed away it's just the relentlessness of the Atlantic train so quick after the charts you posted. Atlantic looks gearing up to me .

With the huge temperature contrast, im sure the atlantic will cough up a storm on the jet. Hopefully going SE

Lovely sunny day again after a cold night and a slight frost - think the NW are getting the better weather for once as further south and east deal with stubborn mist, fog & cloud. I'm unconvinced on any quick route to proper cold as it stands but at the same time don't see a very mild outlook either - the depth of cold in the USA next week is likely to fire up the Atlantic but it'll be a case of where we go from there that's the question really with no model really getting a handle on the situation.

Had Worse I've been fascinated by the regular white 'jet-plumes' in the blue sky as the jets pass over, NW to SE. At times, an almost constant straight line of planes passing over, presumably at different heights, and nice to see.

Been out in car along local lanes -- still piles of snow here and there, presumably left from snow ploughing -- or maybe melting snowmen.

Lovely dry day and even aloft where the contrails have been like small pins. One low flying military went over.  I've heard it said they like to do their exercising when it's dry weather.  Perhaps good visibility for learners today.

Meanwhile down at my level -- the sodden garden looks a disaster zone, some plants have been flattened in snow.

Max temp 6.4C.

Every time we get to 144-168 the Atlantic doesn't get past the UK, does in lower res. Very interesting period coming up.
