Still getting battered by the north easterly winds from Storm Darragh here on the east coast.

This storm has been a beast !

matt brid Tile is now replaced did it from the inside, quite a bit of minor damage around the village, A TV aerial for the scrapman, and several neighbours have lost tiles,  a garage door destroyed, and various outdoor items will never be seen again judging by local Facebook page.

I know Brid had 63mph, I assume that's by the coast guard station, I wonder what the max was here. My guess based on damage would be 75mph ish.

mike57 I would have thought top wind gusts from this storm would be 65-75mph over the period close to Bridlington and Scarborough (and also Skegness).

I wouldn't like to see and hear any higher that's for sure 😩

matt brid I think we got around 80mph during storm Arwen, Bempton is very susceptible to N or NE gales as our village sits on the 300 - 400 foot cliffs so is very exposed. Storm Arwen didn't last as long however.

Only just got power back here after it went out at 10am this morning. Quite an unpleasant two days of weather here, especially after the deluge on Thursday. The dry November is a distant memory now as all the fields are flooded.

I detest this wet and windy weather in winter. We've burnt more gas and used more logs today than any of the cold, calm days in November despite the temperature being higher.

Finally calmed down a bit this morning, and starting to dry up. Winds *only* gusting to 30-35mph now. Has to be one of the longest wind storms I have seen, probably close to 24hours of gale force or close to it winds.

Everywhere is now waterlogged as well.

Well calmed down is relative...

Lunchtime bike ride, winds still gusting to around 35mph NNE once out of the shelter of the village. Temperature is 8C but feels colder with the wind, and showers around which I managed to dodge

A Face like Thunder Sunday we had a NNE wind blowing heavy showers in off the north sea. It was a horrible day, still blowing a hoolie, although not as bad as Saturday night.

Even this morning wind is still gusting close to 30mph here, and thats after listening to the BBC weather telling me its going to be a fine cool day at 5.55am

Another nasty day today...

Lunchtime brought 8C, wind NE force 2 and low cloud, mist and heavy very fine drizzle, with a penetration which seemed to be much greater than the actully small rainfall accumulations. Temperatures felt lower than indicated due to the drizzle and mist/low cloud

Comes and goes here. Quiet for ages then a sudden gust then back to quiet again.

Blowing a tad of a hoolie out this evening, mild enough tho, local xmas tractor run had a good turn out earlier, over 100 tractors, Marshall and bucket rattler was my task this aft, hopefully raised plenty of money for Yorkshire air ambulance 👍

Whilst a Yellow warning is debatable? Its certainly blowing a hoolie currently, trees at the end of the lane making a good growl....😬

Wold Topper There were trees down around Bempton last night, the road down towards Sewerby was blocked. Also minor damage that is still unfixed from last weekend made worse. I would estimate gusting to 60mph here. Yellow warning would have been appropriate. I have given up with Metoffice warnings. Last weeks storm should have been Amber down the coast, and it was well forecast in advance that this bit of the coast was going to get severe weather, and damage the next morning confirmed that, 1 TV ariel down, 5 roofs missing tiles, and 1 garage door reduced to scrap just in our little corner so really no excuses.

Still very windy at lunchtime, after3 miles battling into a ferocious headwind I gave up and turned for home. Wind force 7-8 SW, temps 10C but acedemic given wind, but actually quite sunny, and looks like more wind Wednesday night

Yet another gale today, we were not in the yellow warning area, and it didnt really warrant it, but lunchtime ride bike was another slog into a SW force 7 gusting to 8 or 9 on the open bits. There was a bit of sun which was a small bonus, and temps were 11C but felt colder.

Windier than storm Darragh overall. Max gust 47mph  while Darragh was 49mph. However we had more gusts in the 40's than Darragh provided. A lot more large twigs and small branches around and wheelie bins had been launched.

Well bouncing it down right now. If it keeps going some local flooding is likely.

Vile evening on the East Coast, absolutely tipping it down after a proper windy/gusty day, local roads will be tricky in the AM..
