A horrendous comute home at teatime tonight, torrential rain made for tricky driving conditions on the country roads, alot of standing water and debris washed across the roads, currently quite breezy out, a precursor to the weekend ahead.

Very much the calm before the storm. Since the low pressure tracks over Yorkshire the morning will be fairly quiet just hope people don't get lulled into a sense of false security. Could also cause major issues down the east coast later as well.

I hope people in the Red warning take note it is a horrible situation I experienced Arwen first hand and was in one of the worst affected areas at the time and it was a horrible experience.

Trying to keep everyone from panicking as the force of the wind damaged the roof and popped the loft hatch and wind was howling through the house.

With windows blown out in properties walls were and trees were downed cars damaged.

Local caravan site absolutely destroyed which made sky news.

I hope people are sensible and take the right precautions.

Well I think last Decembers 77 mph gust won't be challenged tomorrow that was on the 21st of Dec. Will know by the end of the evening.

I don't think us in South Yorkshire have much to be worried about, yeah it will be wet and windy but no worse than most winter storms.

Those in South West of UK look prime spot from damaging winds and possibly East coast areas later tomorrow and overnight into Sunday.

Wold Topper Absolutely blowing a gale here now on a south south easterly wind after actually a very gentle breeze at 6pm.

Wind gusting to 50mph currently but it will be tomorrow evening the northerly and later north easterly wind batters the eastern side of England no doubt.

But pretty horrendous out there right now with heavy rain falling also.

Bradowl The crazy winds begin from 3pm tomorrow as the low pressure slips into the north sea !

Yeah I did mention this but hopefully it won't be as bad as the South West.

I've got to go to East Lincolnshire coast tomorrow, I just hope it's still there. 😬

Quiet start to day F1 to F2 went for a walk and you could see dark clouds from the SW to NW. When they arrived light rain started and wind picked up a little now F3 to F4. So people will be wondering what the fuss is all about for now.

I’m at the Leeds march working, it’s mostly calm here so far.

I am curious if the warnings get updated.

 Schnee

Wait for the low to get out into the N Sea for the wind to become N-NW'ly later NNE. That is when the gale to severe gale force winds will occur in Yorkshire.

Well its past 10.30am and as far as I know, there's been no change
to the weather warnings from the M.O.
I did think more areas would go into Amber, especially the east coast.

At the beach in North Bay and a very flat sea. This will no doubt change later, but is the low tracking more south and less east than forecast.

Still relatively calm in Barnsley. This was to be expected though I guess. Be interesting to see how quickly the winds pick up later.

Yes, still all calm here with light rain on and off.
I think the latest forecasts have taken the expected wind speeds
down to 40-60 mph rather than up around  60-70mph.
Seems right then with the Yellow warning.
We shall see what darkness brings.
