Last night was lovely, clear sky and frost down to -2.4c before the storm started to move in and the temperature shot up from 0.4c at 2:39am to 6.3c at 2:54am - that’s almost 6c in 15 minutes!
Today has been predictably grim, currently 10c and up to 10.2mm of rain.

Can I have a rant please. I am notoriously a MO supporter. However I am struggling to see how the majority of south east England is outside of the warning area. The branches and large ones at thar are beginning to come down. The rain is making you aquaplaned driving as I just drove back from Crowborough. I am at a total loss tbh.

Got home from the pub to find the makeshift log shed roof had breeched, just spent about 45 mins rejigging it and tieing the tarp down whilst wrestling with the gusts. Not convinced it'll last until morning 😬 it's getting wild out there

Jimmyh well, I was supposed to be moving some sheep tomorrow.  I'm cancelling as I've got to go through quite rural areas...this weather is not what I want to be stuck in with a trailer worth of sheep.

I posted this in the Storm Bert thread, probably better suited for here though...

Bright and Sunny but very windy! Few trees down locally and a few fences gone.

It'll be a tense watch over the next few hours, especially for one neighbour who put up a load of Christmas lights and outside decorations yesterday! I doubt the 16ft inflatable santa will last long 😁

A few REALLY strong gusts here this morning. If anything, conditions are notable by the variance between general wind speed (not that strong) and gusts. We had a notable one earlier that set the dog off barking. It’s also 16.5C…!

Great variation in weather - both modelled and IRL - this week after the recent dunkelflaute borefest.

Felt positively tropical apart from the wind today. Got up to 18 here if the thermometer was correct.

Nothing exciting to report, a very mild and dry day here until about 5/6ish and then it’s been mild/wet and very windy. Heard the planes struggling above us that have come out of Gatwick.

Yesterday was certainly a gusty one! It felt really mild out the wind, quite a contrast to last week.

Apart from early Wednesday it's looking a fairly dry week with some useable weather.

The Christmas markets/attractions will be pleased!

MAF that’s a long way North for you, are you okay ?
it feels like it’s about 4 degrees here, I’m under the weather and under a blanket!

I love  the Cotswolds but assume it’s all work and no play for you though ?

No damage or flooding here from Bert although some ugly artificial flowers blew into the front garden from somewhere, no one has claimed them despite posting on local facebook group so they will be binned, at least it wasn’t a trampoline!

Checked out the new house Sunday to make sure it still had a roof before signing contracts, no flooding either the two ponds on meadow view hardly had any water in them but some of the country lanes were a bit dodgy with run off from the fields, will have to expect that in a more rural location,

Hopefully the village will look like this come January/Febuary just not on moving day please 🥹
