Yesterday: turned out to be very nice by noon, sun feeling warm in my sheltered garden.

Today: much colder and feeling raw.

Tomorrow: risk of wintry flurries? From MetO for London & Southeast England:

"Cold and widely cloudy, though perhaps a few brighter spells developing in the west during the day. Generally dry but a chance for the odd wintry flurry through the morning. Maximum temperature 4°C."

Snow grains possible Saturday and Sunday according to Meto latest video and low single figures.

At least it will feel seasonal out on the dog walk. Much better than soaking Atlantic muck.

All getting a bit tetchy in the MOD thread. Looks like the possible easterly is looking very unlikely now. But there are some people in there who are very sure of what the weather will be like in 8, 9, 10 days or longer in the future.

snowblind 14 days ago, if I’d listened to the MAD thread I’d have never seen a 3inch nighttime snowfall and 6 consecutive nights of sub zero temps. Here we are 17 days later and min single digits for this weekend

Yes not snowy granted, but proves models are pure FI post D5.

Yes, it’s only mid Jan but my gut feeling is that’s it for “proper Winter” down here at least. Nothing in the MO long range to suggest much uncertainty about how they see the next 30 days and, for all they’re maligned, I can’t recall a proper cold spell happening without them giving at least some hint of the possibility. Yes, second half of Feb or even March could produce something but the sun’s getting sufficiently strong by then to make snow that hangs around for any time increasingly unlikely. Will be very pleased to be proved wrong though!

Snow grains? This is a new one on me!

What a cold and gloomy day here, we had U11’s football game over Richmond way earlier, I had to retreat to the car half way through as I was freezing. I’ve not felt warm since.

Perfect example of anticyclonic gloom. No wind, grey skies, damp at times, and feeling really cold in 2-3 degrees C.

Next week is a 2013/2014 redux and the models have already smelt the coffee 😯😯😯😯😯Raging polar vortex, 250mph jet, deep lows and gale force winds. The worst thing about it is that stav will get to say, at least it will be mild😡

Strongest gusts currently showing on the met office site for my location are 34 mph on Friday. So hoping it won't be too bad for us.

Once the sun reappears it will be slightly higher than the last time I saw it, but not enough to get sunburnt. 🌤️

Another grey cold weekend.Only reached 2 yesterday here and 3 today and currently 0.1 with a frost forming here atm. After not a bad first 15 days sun wise in January we have reverted back to the gloom and cloud of November and December the last 4 days with no sun at all and next few days don’t inspire with much confidence on seeing much sun either😢
