I feel confident enough to call it.

Winter 24/25 RIP. We hardly knew ya.

Not the worst winter in recent years, we saw falling flakes a few times, but the worst in terms of the chase. We never even got promised something special in FI.

Looking like a dull and damp few days ahead! Touch Breezy on Friday.

We were potentially looking at a cold snap from this coming weekend 😆

I can't believe NYE was 3 weeks ago, feels like 3 months not weeks!

I'll probably let this weekend get out the way and then turn my attention to getting the garden sorted for Spring, that'll certainly bring us snow in March!!!

Oh and BTW, anyone that needs a sleet fix, the BBC weather app shows sleet tomorrow morning 😆

I'm getting very tired of this cold, grey weather. Looking forward to milder conditions from the end of the week.

I've been in an increasingly sluggish, fed-up mood the longer this has gone on. Much to my frustration the only person I know with a holiday home in the tropics is an absolute to**er and I have no desire to ask him for a favour because his ego is big enough as it is.

You know the weather gods are laughing at us, when the deep south of america is in the grips of a blizzard. Closer to home, Friday looking very lively indeed. Hopefully it moves away, but as mentioned above, this constant dull grey is depressing. I'm longing for a glimpse of the sun.

Looks foggy out there this evening.  And a windy end to the week.  Netwx 7 day forecast looks to keep the rain away Friday thankfully. Cycling in rain sucks. At least with wind I'll get places quickly with less effort

It really has been a chilly last 5 days here with max temps of 5,2,3,5 and 4 today here so well below average and cloudy every day with no sun😢.Just looking at the snow they are getting in Louisiana and South Georgia upto 6/7 inches of snow which will make it their biggest snowfall for decades in places! Crazy and very envious ❄️

Might get a wheelie bin lid flip Friday.

Experienced much worse in the 80s and 90s when it were just a windy day walking home from school. Pre yellow and orange warnings.

Valid: Thu 23 Jan 2025 06:00 to Fri 24 Jan 2025 06:00 UTC

Issued: Wed 22 Jan 2025 21:10

Forecaster: TUSCHY

A level 2 was issued for S UK mainly for severe wind gusts with a few tornado events possible. A strong event cannot be ruled out.

==

Given rapid translation of thunderstorms, any tornado could be long-tracked and even a strong event cannot be ruled out. The main tornado risk seems to evolve along and S of a Bristol-London line, where the highest BL moisture resides in a low LCL environment

Vortex3929 Thanks for this. I don’t think that I have ever seen this level of warning for potential tornadoes in South/South-east UK. It looks like the risk is associated with the cold front modelled to reach Surrey early on Thursday afternoon. The warning says “The main tornado risk seems to evolve along and S of a Bristol-London line…”

Might we see a MetO warning/advisory for this?

As a fan of “interesting” weather, I will be watching windows/models/radar tomorrow afternoon like a hawk..!
