Very cold and clear overnight with lovely thick frost as the sun came up, still -2.7c at 8am.

Imaging my surprise to see the metoffice forecast telling me I wasnt going to see the sun until late morning...

A nice day today - lots of sunshine and 7C, though it feels colder.

As for the next few days, plenty of garbage on offer.

Well, I'm off to Munich tomorrow for 10 days for my birthday break...so it'll probably pummel it down with snow when I'm not here, ha ha! Hope my fellow Midlanders get something of interest, anyway. I'm looking forward to some Bavarian fun.

nobble it did. I left the house in bright sunshine about 4.20 for an after work stroll, walked into dark clouds and rain about 5 minutes later. Lasted for about 10 minutes , quite weird.

Coldest feeling morning for a long time this morning , absolutely baltic. Lovely day though and no sign of any cloud really. And we even had a poor cut. Very old fashioned

Surprised to see nobody talking about the possible sleet/snow for tomorrow night in the Midlands. I think it will be a sleety/wet snow mix on low ground but anywhere with a bit of elevation, say 150m+, should see some snow that may settle a bit. 850's down to -6 when the PPN arrives in the evening. Granted the 850's do go up into Saturday morning, but there's a chance that some in here might see a dusting or a few cm's. Derbyshire peaks and high ground around Birmingham I expect will see some lying snow for a brief time.

Im with totally with ya, but I’m thinking it’ll be too light to give us anything to get our hopes up or it’ll be a slushy night…but you never know Andy 👍

With you being at 250m ASL, I would expect snow for you. I'm at around 95m ASL so I think more of a sleet mix here, but I do think the West Midlands will see something from this. Whether it's a dusting or a few cm's, there is potential for some lying snow for you guys.

This group is very quiet at the moment but I expect a lot more posts by the time I finish work at 9pm 😂

Caused a little outrage on the model chat but feels it's like speaking to a brick wall sometimes.

Synoptically great, just absolutely no deep cold air near us. Been the case all winter unfortunately.

Say there is a chance this evening/tonight for some snow but looks way too marginal personally. Heavier bursts will likely be the best chance. Not holding much expectation.

Just to add, weather app on my phone reckons snow here from around 8pm till 4am, so we shall see. Temps at around 2c suggests that it will struggle to settle, but i'll take some falling snow over nothing 😂

The MetO automated forecast currently shows sleet for Evesham from 16z through to midnight - that's normally a good sign for those with higher elevation.

Just on a break at work and there is a hint of sleet in the rain here. Very slight but it bodes well for tonight!

2mins of drizzle turned to sleet here in a 5 minute shower.

looking promising for later and could be heavier than forecast.

Temp was at 3.8C, but has fallen to 3.4C after the  shower.
