Midlands regional discussion - into winter 2024/5

Tomorrow looks messy, fair bit of disagreement on where the band/centre of the low will be. Position of it will determine where the sleet/wet snow boundary is. 

Knowing our luck it'll be more horrific cold rain with some snow to hills.

 CoventryWeather Too true. I don't think that I knew the meaning of 'cold rain' until this blasted (non) winter just passed...!! I do now, sadly...

Some really good stars on show tonight, in-between the scudding clouds! Good to see. I really wouldn't mind the Spring weather that I recall from the old days...big diurnal range, sunny (increasingly warm) days, clear (still cold) nights...those were the days...!

Borderline on that cold rain/sleet/wet/snow here, will be keeping my eyes peeled.

Yet again, earlier Met Office forecasts were going for sleet/snow for me tomorrow, but have downgraded to cold damn rain!

I've woken up to... heavy snow falling!! Already covered the road and cars. Wow!  Probably because we have a bit of altitude here on the Malverns but I wasn't expecting this!

Very heavy snow here with some of the largest flakes I’ve seen in some time. Quite a surprise.

Started off with heavy rain now snowing the ground is too wet for it to settle still, it is good to see it falling

Easing off now, but has left a decent covering. It’ll soon melt I’m sure. Anyone up late here this morning won’t even know it snowed probably!

 syed2878 Snow can settle no matter how wet the ground is as long as it’s cold enough. Seen it many times.

Woke up to this just now, not much but more than expected. Can at least say 2 days of snow for this grotty winter now.

We had snow earlier, big wet flakes.  It settled and turned everywhere white but was very wet.  It has turned to rain now.

Definite snow flakes appearing as the heavier precipitation arrives. That makes it the 8th day of falling snow this cold season. A long way below average.

Fairly heavy very wet snow now. Small slushy deposits on my wheelie bins. Not exactly Narnia.
