 Midlands Ice Age

32.8mm was me in them 2 hours

but it may not be over just yet, I’m not sure as it’s slow moving, but looking at the radar, this maybe coming our way 🙏🥴

A few loud thunder crashes here, but nothing exceptional and only a few minutes of rain that went beyond "moderately moderate". And yeah, it's been an interesting September I'd agree. But can the next interesting weather be something that doesn't involve heavy rain, please?

Though respect to the Openreach crew who turned up at the height of the storm to fix a mess another provider had made up the street. They were taking it seriously, two vans and a lorry. Fortunately they filled the hole before it filled with water!

Dancerwithwings My barometer is still down to 981 so we're not out of the woods yet for sure.

For Solihull friends - it's hammering away again out there, just as the radar (and barometer readings!) suggested...I heard from a friend in Acocks Green that there was a brief power cut? Although I wonder if that was his fusebox! He said that the whole street was down tbf.

More than 15mm this time Solihull cohort? 🤪

Was vile driving back from Leicester around 5.30. Long long journey, some ghastly pics around South Bham earlier

Just a bit -  like double in an hour and a half.

Really is a vile night; Dudley, Warley, those areas a few miles west of Brum have seen the worst on a local scale this evening

Agreed….but when my rain gauge was getting battered earlier 💦💧💦💧

them areas you mentioned hardly had anything….so seeing the worst is them now for sure 👍

Currently I’m at 10.4c, plus it’s still raining, and since 4pm, I’ve received 45.6mm 💦

Dancerwithwings definitely be interesting to see the worst spots but i know parts of Stourbridge are very bad now. There was some reprieve here earlier but maybe a slight fragmentation of the main band in the last 30 mins?

Ive gotta drive to Cov at 3.45 for some work but expecting it to be very light by then

Blimey 3:45am for work wow, maybe not as light as you may think, as the front from the north will be passing overhead come that time ☔☔☔

We have been saved by the rogue low from Southampton.

We were in the Amber, after severe flood problems earlier in the week, and the little devil sucked all the juice out of the main low and has spared Northamptonshire another day in the headlines....I think.

Only 28. Something mm so far..

Dancerwithwings i think it shouldve cleared south by then tbh. Is that the 12z? Seems a bit delayed to me.

Also the front to the north seems to contain a lot less energy

Certainly will be lighter to the north but the worry is coming back into the city centre at that time

Brighter now, but a cool - nay, cold! - breeze! Quite nice weather in some ways. As a coldie, I'm loving it - we can wait until December some years for daytime temps of 11-13c...

First floods of the autumn on the rivers around here today, quite early to be having them especially after a relatively dry summer but that's what 90mm of rain in a few days leads to. Could have been worse and had 150-200mm like some have seen further south of here! Still quite far away from what we had at the start of this year in Jan/Feb, but might be heading that way if there is more significant rainfall next month.

I'd recommend what I have, the Mini 3. Great beginners and hobbyist drone, good quality photos, reasonable price!

Stunning, beautiful morning in these parts! Very crisp, clear sky, sunshine...this is what autumn ought to be, and used to be! Really lifts the spirits.
