In danger of being too far south for snow or being too far North to barely even be in the track of the front for an event that starts in 15 hours. Utterly insane model watching, never seen anything like this.

Tbh im kinda expecting the worst with the accumulations over the peaks and a sodden ground around this area tonight and through the morning. The fact the main globals are bullish on this gives me little confidence

Shezale coventry Not half, and yet you cant take your eyes off it for one second. To be fair, last winter was abysmal so its about time we were reimbursed!

The difference between ECM and UK tomorrow morning is unbelievable.

ECM has a second front coming through, UK is dry.

fingers crossed it is the former.

I have a sneaky un-educated feeling that we are going to be in for a surprise.

I may not sleep tonight

Lots of variation amongst all the models at this stage, maybe they will start to firm up together this evening but they haven't thus far.  If you're wanting the snow the ARPEGE seems to put us directly under it from around 4-11am tomorrow.

Rammie Bottom of the borderline I think.Crich,Matlock,Wirksworth etc will do well. But that’s only my opinion. I’m in the bottom of a valley,But who knows. This was us in Dec 3rd last year.It came from nowhere and we ended up with 10cm..😬😄

ECM predicts 22cm of snow in our neck of the woods by tomorrow 😃 GFS is having none of this. Considering our luck I know which one to trust. The irony is we are only about 12 hours away from the event and the models are all over the place.

As Metwatch reported above the temps are actually falling this morning.

Woke up at 08:00 to low cloud and drizzle. Temp at 4.8C.

Sky started to clear from the NE.

By  09:00 it was down to 3.8C.

I assume it was the passing of the final cold front....

Now 10:00 hazy sun is shining but temps are only 5.2C and fall quickly as any clouds come over....

All a bit odd really, though my recording unit is in the sun and in the summer I have to knock about 2C off my readings.

So it will be a nowcast (lamppost?) by the look of it, with maybe a bit of sleet thrown in later (after 21:00?), and if we are fortunate then maybe snowfall later in the night..

Good luck to all

PS clouds are as confused as us and seem to be moving in all directions!!! Virtually no wind.

PSS Now lower clouds have a definite E to  ESE movement to them.

Yep weather warnings now issue down as far as Lichfield, whilst I was typing the above.

Still not certain that the MO have seen the second trailing low that is likely to cause more snow to the south midlands. Its still not on the latest GFS eg).

ARome and Arperge still very bullish for overnight -

I expect warnings for all areas of midlands later this afternoon/evening...
