shunthebartlett92 Well the secondary low may bring snow further South, but the problem is, with just a few hours to go, no-one is sure if it exists yet 😁

Also an updated FAX just issued shows an occlusion going out westwards

Looks like MO trusted the UKV too much...

and are back tracking. Already they now have the first low off the Kent coast, whereas  it was off Lincolnshire previous , as a deepening feauture

Midlands Ice Age Yep it's clearly visible now. It's only small but the fact the GFS didn't have it modelled is encouraging because ECM definitely did and if the ECM is correct it's a Winter wonderland for the Midlands.

Snowy L It formed last night to the NE, has rotated over the the NW through the overnight period/this morning. Seems to have been well modelled by the ECM. Take a look at the surface pressure charts and you can see the kinks around the LP moving anticlockwise.

sheikhy  sheikhy Have you ever known two models so far apart within 24hrs apart mate. The next run will surely have a consensus.

This is what the upcoming Winter season is all about!! Here in the Staffordshire Moorlands it got very cold last night and I almost feel the cold air today is cooler in temp than forecast - it definitely feels like snow could make an appearance but weirdly for my location we're only forecast rain.

Whatever happens it's certainly been a rollercoaster weather watching period! I think I’ve spent more time watching models for potential snow than I did all of last winter. I also have to remind myself — it’s only the 18th of November, official winter is still two weeks away! 😃❄️☃️

Midlander Yep, totally with you. It's been fun, even if we don't get the magic white stuff; at the very least, it's going to be cold this week, and that is something. As you say, we can go entire winters without this...and at least we've been spared the about-turn and back to mild at 48hrs notice or some such!

Let's hope that it's a sign of things to come for the winter proper, rather than this being it!! As you can tell, I'm a little scarred by previous experiences here...!

So looking at the radar it all appears to be rain at the moment. Is this going to be a rain to snow event later this evening?

Stoke lad Yeah it will start of as rain. I think the ARPEGE has it turning at around 10-11pm
