This ain't summer. 14c outside and chucking it down: worse than last July, which was already pants. We no longer have any seasons, just a dark, wet, endless autumn with a few intervals of cold/warmth in between. It's like being in a dystopian film where evil has prevailed.

More of the same dumpy weather here as well. It cleared up last night but didn't even last until the morning and we have cloud again, wind as well.

I am also sick and tired of the models. I have never seen such bad uncertainty before (although last summer was also bad), now it looks like the HP over NE Europe is also only gonna be a short blip, we might get 2 dry days out of it, Tuesday and Wednesday... after that looks like some more shallow lows are gonna get stuck around Scandinavia. Ofc they always show good conditions around day 8-10 but thats FI and never comes off, I fully expect the Scandi trough to be the default pattern.

Does anyone know if the CET has always been three stations since it's conception?  I keep getting mixed answers!

No summer to be seen as of yet. The BBC is about as reliable as tea leaves or a crystal ball.

I actually quite liked June as although it wasn't a warm month, it was dry for the most part and weeks 3 and 4 were pleasant enough.  However, July has been pretty naff!

A top weather expert predicts the UK could be in for a sizzling heatwave, with temperatures potentially soaring into the "high-30Cs" in certain areas.

James Madden, a forecaster at Exacta Weather, took to Facebook on Saturday, July 13 to alert of an imminent "significant change in our overall weather pattern to very warm/very hot conditions throughout next week and late July".

weatherguru14 What a load of rubbish! High 30s - not going to happen, 30 degrees will be a tall order, high 20s briefly at best for favoured few in the SE, low to mid 20s elsewhere. Better than much of the summer so far.

Yep, id settle for settled August and low 20s.. no one wants high 20s and 30s.. some weather forecasters like James Madden have been doing this for at least 10 years..

damianslaw this summer is following the same path as 1998 it would seem.

Addicks Fan 1981 June 1998 and June 2024 were completely different. June 1998 was dull and extremely wet while June 2024 very dry and quite sunny.

I think August will end up being the best month of the summer this year. This often happens after a poor June and July. 2007 and 2012 for example had pleasant enough Augusts after the previous two poor months.

I think it will be a benign month with temps predominently in the low to mid 20s with average sunshine and just below average rainfall. So nothing like 1995, but nothing like 2008 either.

I would be happy with that.

Weather Enthusiast91 I tend to agree, it is very rare for all three months of a season to be anomalous in the same direction. I can only recall one year in the early 20th century where all three summer months were dire.

raz.org.rain Yep, definitely looks likely. Could even see a true split summer - if the second half of July does turn out significantly warmer and drier than the first half, and then August continues in the same vein, perhaps with a notable hot spell, it'd be split right down the middle.

It would be interesting to see how people would rank this summer if that happened - last year the good June was largely ignored due to the very poor July and poor to mediocre August. I imagine it would be the opposite this year - a good late July and August in the peak holiday season would subjectively rank a lot higher.

Of course, it has to happen first!
