Grey. Sums it up for what must be the last 10 days at least! Dry though so at least lost the perpetual dampness from last weekend and earlier in the week.

This can't be good...the daft thread is getting wound up early this year, they are salivating at the gazzillion to one chance there will be a cold spell from the 18th of the month,

Will they never learn, we have all seen things flip in the space of a couple of days...then they are on suicide watch.

Getting a cold spell at the very start of winter is never a good thing for the following months, just look at last year as a perfect example.

But I would love to be proved wrong.

just after noon, and temp 7.7C.  Aunty Gloom still residing over us with consequent less then good, air quality.

Looking forward to Rory Westerly kicking open the door and bringing the clean stuff (and some sightings of the sun!!) back to us after what seems an eternity.

Another good day here,finished cutting beech hedge another shrub border tidied for winter,  Grass and neeps still growing calves motoring just .amazing. Background is cooler today with a slight grass frost first thing but ground nice and dry

We managed a couple of hours with some sunshine this afternoon after the drizzle cleared, more than the whole month so far! Getting chilly and more seasonal now, new weather station just arrived so I should know a little more accurately soon when I set it up

I've refrained from posting any GFS ensembles, but the fact I'm now back on the forum means my interest has been perked.

As for Strathconon... We spent a lovely week in the cottages there back during a period when covid was still around, but on the wane.

I can highly recommend the accommodation, and the surrounding hills for mountain biking.

Been a lovely couple of weeks for sunsets, just now no exception...

better than the red alert aurora last night which was a tad underwhelming (been spoiled so far this year so the bar is set high!)...

Another double digit day with a max of 10c with a gentle west wind.  Could get very used to this dry weather at this time of year.

Nice day here today. I was on a hill yesterday and the change in air was obvious - a rather unstable and cooler westerly. Hat, coat, gloves, etc.

I had to get up there to work during the peak of covid. The locals had done everything bar set up razor wire fences and machine gun nests to keep non-residents out. I needed a special permit to get in and it was the only place in that period where someone actually asked to see my 'letter of comfort' (I think that's what they were called - I've stashed them somewhere to show grandchildren one day...)

Strathcarron is lovely too. We camped by the hotel for a few day a long time ago when the boys were... actually when we only had one wee boy. Who got a slug in his sock. And he walked and walked and walked. He would have been about 7. Trooper. He made me a grandpa recently.

Speaking of the west coast we're just back from a long weekend staying with friends in Dunvegan on Skye. Great weekend with plenty of walking despite the fairly mediocre weather, little bit of sunshine on Sunday but otherwise grey was the main theme. At least it was mostly dry and, because he dives for scallops, oysters, crab etc we ate like kings each night. 

Venturing over there does always make me appreciate the quality of Aberdeenshire road surfaces though -  even some of the A roads were bad enough to reduce traffic to a crawl.
