@Nick123 UKV model does look like it has a quieter patch of winds around this time for the East then it will pick up again in the next couple of hours and overnight

@Mcconnor8 thank you. I did find it strange how areas south were getting battered and there's not even a breeze here at the moment. Strange how the met aren't reacting?

@Nick123 dont think they would put out additional warnings at this point unless there was something red worthy showing suddenly, even though the models may have underestimated winds in some areas for today.

Very strong gusts here now , we have a bathroom window that doesn't shut and the wind is gusting through that  and rattling the bathroom door as well as hearing it rattle objects out in the back garden,  as I said before I was not expecting it today .

Gusts are getting quite strong now almost similar to Sunday night.

Weirdly enough skies are clear but temperatures still very mild at 13.7°C. Humidity has dropped quickly to 72% so maybe some sort of dry slot.

Blowing a good one here. 40-50mph gusts I reckon. Very warm too!

Gusts are really strong here in Leicester. Seems to have picked up out of nowhere after a relatively quiet day. Definitely sounds more wild out there compared to the previous storm.

Wind has calmed a bit but still active and still very warm.  Clouds whipping past. Loving the sound of it, the video obviously doesn't do it justice, it's booming

I wonder if there's a foehn effect going on that's coming off the Welsh mountains with temps, as the gales have increased here notably since 8pm.

Definately more active this named Storm than Isha was in this neck of the woods.

In terms of winds strength pretty similar to isha here, gusting in the 30s maybe 40s, nothing of note so far. Mild but I wouldn't say warm at 11c

@Lisa Martin Yes definitely a lot livelier here in Mansfield than Sunday night, and a few hours yet until the peak gusts forecasted by most models.

I wonder why this is more livelier than Storm Isha for some of us, despite lower forecast wind gusts? The frequency of the gusts as well as their intensity seem to be more active. Is there any relation to the warmer temperatures and wind speed?

I might be wrong, but what I think seems to be happening is the gradient of the cold front between warmer air and colder air isn't that sharp. Drier air has already moved in, with the sudden drop in surface humidity but the cold air is taking longer to transfer to the surface compared to higher up. The air behind the front doesn't seem that cold either. Winds are more of a westerly direction so that is racing down Welsh mountains / north Pennines and causing that foehn.

I don't remember seeing such humidity around 70% when it's still 13C in january either. Drier air is windier than moist air too.
