 StretfordEnd1996 Yes Sat 27 January, a snowy day here, heavy snow overnight into the morning, caused unusually by an easterly airflow packed with snow. 95-96 by far my favourite winter I can remember well prior to 09-10. Slightly too young to remember winters pre 86-87 that well.

In the South Shields/Sunderland area where I was, February 1996 was snowy but had only modest accumulations on the ground. Some of the snow on the 5th-7th made it over the Pennines but it melted away
