Worlds Largest Musical Instrument
This is about the worlds largest musical instrument.
The Midmer Losh pipe organ was built from 1929-1932 by the Midmer Losh company of Long Island, New York.
It was designed by the New Jersey state senator Emerson L. Richards who had a strong insterest in pipe organs, and when Atlantic City had the worlds largest auditorium built, he decided it would have the worlds largest pipe organ.
The organ has over 33,000 pipes (the average church organ has around 2,000 pipes and 30-40 stops, 3 manuals [keyboards] even the largest cathedral and concert hall organs will have around 5000-10000 pipes and 100-150 stops). over 1,200 stops and 7 keyboards.
Its website is www.acchos.org
And now it actually is working, not all of it, but 10,000 pipes are playing.
