The Decent To Autumn & Winter Begins!

Backtrack

Well the decent to Autumn and Winter is under way, and although we are still well into Summer at the minute. It sure doesn't feel like it. Although this week is likely to be the sunniest week of the month, it should also be around average, perhaps slightly above in parts towards the end of the week especially. I'm being bias to England here, but Scotland should also be seeing the sun regular with Northern Ireland also joining in on Summer.
I wouldn't be getting too used to it though, because the models are showing a changeable outlook!

Anyway, the point of this blog was to keep track of the temperatures from now until February 31st! It will be a slow change of seasons, as we usually get most of our Summer in September! We're now close to seeing the first ground frost away from deep in the Scottish Highlands, where we have already achieved an airfrost. In July one part got down to -0.5C.

Parts of Cumbria are coming very close now, achieving just 2-3C on a clear night in spots.

Anyway here goes for today:

14th August 2011: Overcast, bright with no rain recorded. It's 18.3C at 1pm.
