Nouska 5,723 Posted July 21, 2016 Lovely pictures. I presume that is ash from a previous eruption that shows as a layer in the glacial ice - recent or old, I wonder?

Some parts of the country have volcanic desserts so the ash drifts easily in the wind and covers the ice.
