  1. Just had my first storm for a long time, shame I couldn't see the lightning as it was above the cloud base, only the odd flash but was just constant thunder and heavy icy rain. That could become quite the storm as it goes up to the valleys.
  2. Ubfortunatelt the lighting is mostly high up in the clouds and not visible but the thunder is amazing and torrential rain. Thunder and lightning decreasing as its moving inland off the channel.
  3. The lighting is mostly high up and not visible but the thunder is amazing and torrential rain
  4. That storm by Cardiff is headding straight for me, thunder getting louder and louder, sky has gone down
  5. Cain just seen my first bit of lightning as it approaches, thunder is none stop, very very active, cant wait till its overhead
  6. Constant rolling thunder from the approaching storm here, hope it goes over head and not to the side of me
  7. Cain Most definately will for me, they always build up over me or near me then go boom once too far north of me
  8. Some stormy looking clouds bubbling up here now coming off the Bristol Channel, those north of us will probably get some storms once they build more.
  9. Been a lovely spring day, sunny with a high of 20.4C, perfect spring day for me!
  10. Currently having a heavy shower. Having looked at the met office, the average annual rainfall at St Athen by me is 1043mm and I've already recorded 594mm in the first quarter of the year. Could do with getting a few weeks of warm dry weather to help dry the ground out a bit, as im sure many areas need!
  11. My small tree in the front has started blossoming already, im looking forward to spring now and seeing everything going into blossom and green again if we won't get snow down here. Saying that March the last several years is the only time on the coast I've had any laying snow, not winter itself so see if this year it happens again!
  12. I very much have resigned to the fact this may be a snowless winter for me on the south coast in terms of laying snow. Hopefully a miracle can happen and it can correct 100 miles or so further south and stall, keeping us in cold enough air
  13. Had a max gust of 22.8mph, my street was very sheltered from the sw wind last night.
  14. Poped my head out the back door and can hear the wind roaring away probably towards Barry Island but oddly barely a breeze by me still, I had expected to be getting some strong winds by now.
  15. I'd say so, whilst the wind speeds are not exceptional for a winter storm (though don't get me wrong still very strong and capable of causing damage) I'd say the duration of the winds is more unusual and what could cause more damage from trees, structures etc getting a more prolonged battering and weakening risking damage and disruption.
  16. Nothing major here still, can here the wind picking up outside but the garden is very sheltered from current wind direction so not recorded more than 14.8mph lol.
  17. Nothing of note yet in Barry, id expect that if we see gusts of 60-70mph then my sheltered location would get 40-55mph (which are still strong enough) normally 15-20mph less than the rest of Barry which I am thankful of in these situations. I love a good windstorm as I love most weather but they do make me nervous. Will be interesting to see how the evening progresses.

It sends a signal every 16seconds so dose miss some wind gusts but its a good system that im very pleased with for a reasonable price.
  19. Currently -4.5C making it our coldest night. Im actually looking forward to a bit of a warm up and having the heating on less.
  20. Had a high of 5.5C today, warmer than anything we had last week. Whilst nothing special it has been nice to have the seasonal and dry weather just ashame about no snowy breakdown. I would have happily taken a few hours of heavy settling snow turing to rain or melting rapidly if it meant getting some lol.
  21. I hope that storm for the weekend doesn't happen, its bad enough not getting the snow this week when it could have been so good but 80-90mph winds is pretty scary!
  22. Well a few days ago it was forecast to be 6C today its currently 1.8C with aforecast high of 4C. I do think the models are not handling this well and there will be some surprises as the week goes on.
  23. For now im going to keep my expectations low for snowfall here. Northerly winds are no good for my location and the low looks going to far south. It will be a real shame to have this cold weather without snow but it seems like that is most likely for SE Wales. Still chance for change over next few days though.
  24. Yes unfortunately it does look like if it happens it will all be for nothing in the sense it soon gets washed away. Fingers crossed it corrects south closer to the time with the cold holding stronger than predicted, so we can get a deep snowfall with a stalling front and then the cold to keep it around lol.
