  1. What are the roads like in Leicester I am due to drive over there tomorrow? Is the council good at keeping them clear, here the side roads are usually left ungritted.

Have a look on the following link http://www.bbc.co.uk/travelnews/leicester/trafficcameras shows the traffic cameras around leicester, seems like all the main roads are clear, but side roads will be interesting !.

Temps have been raising all morning, around zero here at the mo.

  2. Got to be honest i have seen a lot heavier snow than this in the leicester area in the 80's /90's i can remember snow drifts higher than our car, now that would of been a red warning good.gif

I think the road's are bad due to it being so cold, we normally have temps just above freezing when we have snow, so the roads are slushy rather than frozen which leads to less problems, temps have been well below freezing all day.

  3. What i found amazing today, was the temperature actually dropping as the day wore on! When I checked the Braunstone Weather station at 7am this morning it said -0.9c. It now says -1.9c! So even though technically it's supposed to be the warmest part of the day, it's actually dropped a degree since 7am! It's going to be a cold one tonight that's for sure.

I mentioned the same to the guys at work, that the temp is dropping during the day during snow fall.

Leicesters roads are turning into gridlock, managed to get home, but Hinckley road is just one queue of traffic with a icey layer starting to appear.

Was surprised how bad the roads were, but with a temp of -2.9c i can see why they are icing up and any snow fall is not melting even with grit.

  4. I must looking at the wrong radars, I am going to stick my neck out now, looking at the radar once the green passes brum it is breaking down, and for some reason I think this trend will continue all day, we will have a day of very very very light snow, but it will not get heavy, therefore I cannot see any major falls

I am ready to be shot down! I will not post again now until this evening to see if I was wrong or right!

Its just really started to come down now in Whetstone LE8 just down from you.

Seems like the front is slowing down, and its a couple of hours ahead of schedule.

  5. Where in LE3 do you live again mate? I ride over Western Park daily when I go work and there's still plenty of snow on it! Sadly most of the roads and pavements have none left though sad.png

Leicester Forest East, still have a decent covering we are at 104m asl so a little extra height and a little bit colder than the city.
