I was worried that the blob of heavy precip would be rain and start to wash away the snow, but thankfully it wasn't. Hopefully once this clears, it will stay mostly dry until tomorrow morning when it turns back to snow.
Heavy snow just down the road in LFE to

Light snow here now. Cheeky starter and not forecast
Yep light snow in West Leicester
-
Is the band that is moving into wales the main band ?, as it looks like it will be here early afternoon unless it stalls.
-
Where the heck are the leicester folk its absolutely chucking it!!heaviest of the cold spell so far
Everyone is looking out the window at the heavy snow
-
Looks like there is some snow pushing up from the south this afternoon, so we may get a little more in Leicester after last nights half inch.
-
-
12z NAE just starting to roll out, light snow still over leicester at midnight.
-
+0.3c in my back garden in Leicester Forest East, will be a little warmer in the center of leicester, once we get some heavier snow it should bring the temps down a little.
-
Was expecting the band of snow to move in more of a northerly direction, seems to be more westward which is better for us
-
Surprised we are getting snow so early, looks like it will be here for the rest of the day !
Link to the website showing the NAE model - this is at midnight tonight and snow still over leicester !

Seems like the latest NAE chart for 12 noon now has a area of snow in front of the main band.
I think tomorrow could be another interesting day weather wise.
-
Its a little way out but we could get a little more tuesday morning
-
The 12Z NAE seems to have shifted some of the heavier snow to the west a little again
So looks like leicester will have a top up tomorrow afternoon.
-
What are the roads like in Leicester I am due to drive over there tomorrow? Is the council good at keeping them clear, here the side roads are usually left ungritted.
Have a look on the following link http://www.bbc.co.uk/travelnews/leicester/trafficcameras shows the traffic cameras around leicester, seems like all the main roads are clear, but side roads will be interesting !.
Temps have been raising all morning, around zero here at the mo.

Do you not mean west? looks okay for my region as well NE of the W midlands
Sorry yes, more west than earlier forecasts.
-
Just watched the bbc1 forecast just before 8, showed the snow for Sunday now further east, looked good for the east midlands
-
Got to be honest i have seen a lot heavier snow than this in the leicester area in the 80's /90's i can remember snow drifts higher than our car, now that would of been a red warning
I think the road's are bad due to it being so cold, we normally have temps just above freezing when we have snow, so the roads are slushy rather than frozen which leads to less problems, temps have been well below freezing all day.

What i found amazing today, was the temperature actually dropping as the day wore on! When I checked the Braunstone Weather station at 7am this morning it said -0.9c. It now says -1.9c! So even though technically it's supposed to be the warmest part of the day, it's actually dropped a degree since 7am! It's going to be a cold one tonight that's for sure.
I mentioned the same to the guys at work, that the temp is dropping during the day during snow fall.
Leicesters roads are turning into gridlock, managed to get home, but Hinckley road is just one queue of traffic with a icey layer starting to appear.
Was surprised how bad the roads were, but with a temp of -2.9c i can see why they are icing up and any snow fall is not melting even with grit.

I must looking at the wrong radars, I am going to stick my neck out now, looking at the radar once the green passes brum it is breaking down, and for some reason I think this trend will continue all day, we will have a day of very very very light snow, but it will not get heavy, therefore I cannot see any major falls
I am ready to be shot down! I will not post again now until this evening to see if I was wrong or right!
Its just really started to come down now in Whetstone LE8 just down from you.
Seems like the front is slowing down, and its a couple of hours ahead of schedule.
-
The snow did show up on this mornings NAE run, chart below is for 6.00pm, but i was to busy
looking at the main band of snow coming in tomorrow
-
Where in LE3 do you live again mate? I ride over Western Park daily when I go work and there's still plenty of snow on it! Sadly most of the roads and pavements have none left though
Leicester Forest East, still have a decent covering we are at 104m asl so a little extra height and a little bit colder than the city.
-
This mornings NAE has snow over us for 18 hours in leicester, i think we will do ok
-
Red warning now out for south wales !
