Sleet/snow shower in Warminster, snow in heavier bursts.
Edit : radar shows a streamer developing from Southampton/Portsmouth and heading roughly NNW so whether there will be snow
issues locally in a narrow line of Hampshire into Wiltshire this evening remains to be seen.
Heavy snow in North Dorset not sure if this is from the streamer your talking about?
-
Fingers crossed! I will be looking forward to reading your informative view on weather events in N Dorset later!Didnt take long to settle on the wet ground then,,bodes well for later.
-
Cheers thanks will do.
Within 25 mins of heavy snow everthing is back to white again! Car has a good covering on it and white on the lane again.

Thanks, could you let me know if its settling yet, i need to pick my oldest up from their later, but if its already settling i'll text him to say i will collect him at normal time. Cheers
Iceberg - Starting to settle on cars and roads that have been previously cleared. Topping up the existing snow nicely! I would suggest Normal time to your oldest knowing how tricky the snow can make things around here!

Readily happening now, within 5 mins its just changed from heavy rain to big flakes of heavy snow here(120m) in N.Dorset. I assume its been snowing in Shaftesbury all this time.
NETW radar has me under blue rain....so its catching the radar out as well.
Yep heavy snow up in Shaftesbury, no sign of rain.............................
-
Any reports of snow on hills in dorset yet?
Just on the edge of this but it is snowing lightly.
Yep Heavy snow in Shaftesbury!!!!! Very Happy chap at the moment!

Sorry Paul/netw,
Just a quick recap of where we are now, attached is the screen grab from NETW extra, with radar, current temps and predicted temps from NMM.
The colder air is just to the east (i.e Bournmouth 2C, Boscombe down 0C), current temp for me in N.Dorset is 2.9C.
Portland 6C etc.
Winds have started to swing round to the east now and temps have to start falling if we are going to get maximum snow chances for the SW.
Precip is where its progged to be in the channel. With the warm and colder sectors showing well.
atm the temps are probably couple of degrees colder than forecast for most Bouremouth should be 4C at least, boscombe down 2 to 3C, even Bristol should be 4C compared to bristol airport which is currently 0-1C.
This is good news, but we need to see temps falling in n.dorset and somerset by midday.
06z nmm shows much lower temps for the sw than forecast by the 00z nmm which is another good pointer.
Certainly got colder and the wind increasing in the last 30mins in North Dorset, it has now started snowing. I'm looking forward to some interesting developments this afternoon!!!!
-
A few flakes in the wind here in n.dorset.
Still -1 so plenty cold enough.
Likewise a dusting in Shaftesbury as we speak
-
Starting to snow again in the Blackmore vale in Dorset, we have 5 inches of lying snow with a very slight thaw this afternoon, but light snow at the moment
Also some light snow in shaftesbury

Just popped into middle of Shaftesbury, kids having fun on Gold hill! The snow is starting to make some nice drifts and that wind is bitterly cold! -
Gusty winds snow still moderate Hows North Dorset doing?
Just had a quick look out atleast 10cms in Shaftesbury, will have a closer look probably more
-
Light Snow in Shaftesbury (North Dorset)
-
Just driven from North Dorset to Surrey, light dusting in Shaftesbury nothing until Andover, probabably thickest just outside Basingstoke, even covering on the M3, white in leafy surrey.
Heading to North East later in the week, that could be interesting............................
-
Just watched the Countryfile weather, looks like a cold week in the West, not a great chance of snow but we never know with the milder air flirting with the far west. Feb 09 was a great example in North Dorset.
-
Anyone in North Dorset experiencing a snow shower ? Netweather radar is showing some echos!!
Not a drop in Shaftesbury!!!!!!!!!!! Sunny and cold.
-
Just started Snowing in N.Dorset/Shaftesbury
-
Well, I don't know about Weymouth as I'm currently at work in Wareham but the snow has arrived
and is pepping up nicely.
At least I've SEEN snow this winter!
Just popped outside 5/6 inches, still snowing very heavy with a strong wind, getting to the same levels in Shaftesbury as the great week of Feb 2009, but it snowed like this for four days on the trot!
-
Some parts of Dorset have definately got snow(sorry if the south haven't ), It's snowing very heavily hear now in N.Dorset and is already covering the ground where the snow has been removed once this morning.
Just been outside had a snowball fight with the kids(school cancelled) and will take them sledging later.
Shaftesbury and Gillingham have been heavily hit etc.
Just been out taking photo's for the last hour, snowing very heavy now in Shaftesbury with incresing wind from the NW
-
Yep I feel really sad that we missed out like this. The number of kids which were praying for snow are going to feel really hard done by (including the grown ups). It is hard to believe any further forecast for snow in this area, even if it is for 2cm or not!
3 inches of Snow in Shaftesbury - So DORSET hasn't completely missed out!!!
