Thanks, could you let me know if its settling yet, i need to pick my oldest up from their later, but if its already settling i'll text him to say i will collect him at normal time. Cheers

Iceberg - Starting to settle on cars and roads that have been previously cleared. Topping up the existing snow nicely! I would suggest Normal time to your oldest knowing how tricky the snow can make things around here!

  2. Sorry Paul/netw,

Just a quick recap of where we are now, attached is the screen grab from NETW extra, with radar, current temps and predicted temps from NMM.

The colder air is just to the east (i.e Bournmouth 2C, Boscombe down 0C), current temp for me in N.Dorset is 2.9C.

    Portland 6C etc.

Winds have started to swing round to the east now and temps have to start falling if we are going to get maximum snow chances for the SW.

Precip is where its progged to be in the channel. With the warm and colder sectors showing well.

atm the temps are probably couple of degrees colder than forecast for most Bouremouth should be 4C at least, boscombe down 2 to 3C, even Bristol should be 4C compared to bristol airport which is currently 0-1C.

This is good news, but we need to see temps falling in n.dorset and somerset by midday.

06z nmm shows much lower temps for the sw than forecast by the 00z nmm which is another good pointer.

Certainly got colder and the wind increasing in the last 30mins in North Dorset, it has now started snowing. I'm looking forward to some interesting developments this afternoon!!!!

  3. Well, I don't know about Weymouth as I'm currently at work in Wareham but the snow has arrived

    and is pepping up nicely.

At least I've SEEN snow this winter! biggrin.gif

Just popped outside 5/6 inches, still snowing very heavy with a strong wind, getting to the same levels in Shaftesbury as the great week of Feb 2009, but it snowed like this for four days on the trot!

  4. Some parts of Dorset have definately got snow(sorry if the south haven't sad.gif ), It's snowing very heavily hear now in N.Dorset and is already covering the ground where the snow has been removed once this morning.

Just been outside had a snowball fight with the kids(school cancelled) and will take them sledging later.

Shaftesbury and Gillingham have been heavily hit etc.

Just been out taking photo's for the last hour, snowing very heavy now in Shaftesbury with incresing wind from the NW
