MetO now forecasting heavy snow for tonight in Ayrshire could be an even better covering by tomorrow

I've worked it out. Anything going over Penicuick will reach us in Motherwell. Come on Penicuick, get your act together!

I'm hoping that big long one you guys to the south of Edinburgh are getting is going to make it to Motherwell, think it's just going to skirt us to the north though, does anyone else find themselves spending an unhealthy amount of time trying to track showers and replaying the previous hour over and over to try and convince themselves it will track over them?
It's infuriatingly addictive.

Good pics Stu, took a walk round dalziel estate earlier. Not often you see everything so thickly covered especially on March 1st.
Cheers, I was wanting to go a bit further round the town but my wife made me promise not to go out in the car!

I think the good people of Motherwell need a slight change in wind direction or strength. The last couple of hours have seen things miss is to the north and south or dissipate just before they reach us.

Yep, down at the dalziel building. Hoping to wake up to something decent in the morning.

Weakening now, that was a fast moving shower, think that's it for a couple of hours now.

The multi coloured blob has reached Motherwell and is giving decent snow.

I know Motherwell and Wishaw well, as my grandparents lived there. There was often a real difference in snowfall with Wishaw being that bit higher up. Anyway I would guess 5cm for Motherwell. Kilmarnock I’m not familiar with but I know from this thread it’s not a town that usually catches much snow. Let’s go with 2cm.
Thanks, I will leave the snow shovel ans food supplies at home for my commute tomorrow then :-D

Dunoon, my hometown, brilliant! Get out a walk along the West Bay tonight, my dad used to always take me along the prom when there was a big storm on. Hope all is well down there.
