  1. Yes it has been snow in Bletchley all morning, very wet snow though and now it has stopped, at least for the time being, it is melting very nicely.

The Temp is currently 2deg c here, but there is 100%cloud cover so we wait with interest.

  2. Good morning, well here in Bletchley it was snowing well around daybreak, but it did not stick, it is still heavy cloud cover though, all grey and dull and my instument is still showing rain/snowfall

so it looks like it will remain wet.The current Temp is 1deg c but it feels like -1.

I can hardly wait for the ground to start drying up, I have got so much I want to do outside but just cannot get on with it.

  3. Well here it is a superb morning, blue sky, and the Sun is really nice to see after days of grey gloomy weather with full cloud cover.

SO it is nice this morning, the Temp is still only 1deg c and feels like 0deg c, and the visibilty is good, so not a bad morning at all.

Mind you later we are looking at some more cloud and either rain or snow showers so I will enjoy this whilst I can.

  4. Quite a few years ago, I cant remember the exact date, I remember something happened to my Barometer immediately before a terrible storm.

I found out later that it is called "crashing".

My Barometer "crashed" and we had a terrific storm. I have never seen it happen again, has anyone else ever expereinced this kind of thing ?

The presure fell extremely quickly and the reading took a dive so quick.

How often does this kind of pressure change happen ?

  5. We had a moderate fall of snow last night here, but this morning is blue skies with a bit of broken cloud, the Temp is currently 2deg c .

Nice to see the sun like this after quite a few days of heavy cloud cover making it dull and dreary.

  6. "Mmm" thanks for that, mind you it is only a couple of weeks.

Do you know, it has been so quiet around here lately windwise. What I mean is the wind has only been at the most 15mph for one day in the past fortnight and again this morning it is Calm.

I wonder when we are going to get any wind to speak of ? I can remember this time last year we were having winds up to around 25- 30mph with strong gusts, but this year it is so quiet and sultry.

  7. I wonder if on this wonderful site, there is someone that can tell me about weather stations please.

Yes I have one, and no I dont know how it rates with more experienced Weather hobbyists.

It is a "techno Ws 2300", it serves me well and I realise it is probably at the lower end of the range but it of course what one can afford.

I would like to know what other people think of this item though. Also I would like to see a list of the good, not so good and absolutely awful ones,

because like everything else there are bound to be some on the market which are best left alone.

I am interested to find out.

    Thank you.

  8. It's going to be a fairly slow process across the north of the UK in particular, but this week will see a change to milder, but unsettled conditions as Atlantic weather systems push across the country.

Yes there is milder weather coming eventually, it will make a nice change from this frosty cold weather, we seem to have had low temps this winter more than other years, perhaps this winter will be recorded as one of the coldest over a certain period ??

I know it is not THE coldest we have had since say..the 60s , but it is the length of time it has been persistently below freezing.

  10. Good morning, I am new on here, I am a novice weather watcher but I do like to record the readings I take 2 or 3 times a day.

I do have a Weather Station, whether it is a good one within the hobby or not I dont know, it serves me well, it is still pretty new and had no problems. I also have my collection of Barometers, 18 in all which are all set correctly.

I have had a "Weather interest" for a long time, but I have recently retired and can now take a more "in depth" interest in the hobby.

I live in Bletchley Buckinghamshire and through the year the weather here can be quite mysterious in different ways.

I just wanted to introduce myself anyway and hope I am allowed to put this in this particular place.

    Major.
