  1. had several storms come through kidderminster last night from about 8 pm and last rumble of thunder heard about 3am.

came over head about 10pm and the cat jumped a mile, then stared outside for a good 5 mins with a disgusted expression on his face.

  2. Big fat flakes of settling snow in Droitwich (where i am at the mo), worcester and kidderminster. Dont know if its settling on the roads but its certainly settling on everything else.

Was certainly supprised at 7pm when i looked out the window as it was raining heavily 2 hours previous.

I didn't see this lot coming. Never mind me liking....the cat ain though LOL

  3. Strange light pollution effect here in the west of Swansea as the street lights seems to be reflecting off the snow and giving the clouds an orangy colour.

This year just like 1999, the 8th Feb was a disappointment but the 9th produced some snow, today we had the best snowfall in my location since 1991 (can't verify that with any data though, just my opinion)

Getting that over here in kiddy too, even though the snow has stopped for now.

Just spoken to my mate in Swansea, it has taken him nearly 5 hours to go 6 miles. :(

  4. Still going strong here! Slowed down a few minutes ago but the wind has picked up again and it's coming down more quickly albeit smaller flakes.

Did some measuring and I have 2" right by the back door but more on the grass and it has drifted onto the side of the conservatory and is approaching a foot there :):)

Bloke on radio 5 Live saying heaviest snow in Worcester since 1982 - he just measured 10.2cm near the Cathedral. Roads into Worcester city centre are in a right state, lots of A roads in Hereford and Worcester are now "unpassable".

Well I know trying to get off my estate is going to be a nightmare so I aint gonna try. Don't know what the state of the main roads are round here, but i aint heard a train all morning.

  5. I dont know what time it started snowing here in kidderminster, but when i got up at 6am there was already a really good covering. From looking at the lamp post right outside our house it looked to be the fine stuff.

Still snowing now and the cat definitely aint happy as he dived outside like he usually does, then realised that it this white stuff was cold and wet so darted back in and gave me and my other half dirty looks :drinks:

At least we dont have to break the ice on the pond today, there was 1/2 inch on it yesterday :)

Everyone who's affected be careful out there.

  6. An update to what I posted earlier.

About 3.15am was standing by the window trying to guage where the storm was coming from when there was a tremendous flash of cg lightning and crack of thunder that close that it appeared to have struck in the gardens across the street. I ducked and cat shot behind the sofa. hubby said he could hear the car alarms going off in the next street. Then it started raining heavily for about 1/4 of an hour. didn't hear anymore thunder until about 5am (ish) when we had several rather loud long rumbles (was half a sleep so couldn't guage things exactly).

Rumbling again now has been for about an hour.

oh yeah the thunder in the first storm (2am ish) seemed rather muted like it was trying to keep the noise down because everyone was sleeping
