Looking fairly promising for my neck of the woods. Some pretty heft looking clouds now on the horizon towards the south.
-
Mate in east of Birmingham reports very very loud thunder in the last few minutes.
-
Really humid here with cloudy skies. Hoping we're in a good position but guess I'll just have to wait and see.
-
Okay I am going to chase this Swindon beast. Just need to figure out its track as looks to have some NE movement to it.
Edit: Holy cr*p this thing could actually be heading to Derby!
I chuffing hope so

Sun definitely trying its best to poke through here. Given the apparent NE direction of the Swindon storm, is there a reasonable chance it will reach us lot in the Derbyshire/South Yorks area in a few hours time?
-
i'm stuck down in the valley between Kilburn and Holbrook.Where in Belper are you.I'm not jealous at all, honest!!.I
I'm probably about as high up as you can get round here!
Might be wrong but looks like a lot of planes circling overhead - trouble landing at east mids??
-
where you looking mate,I'm in Denby and have seen nothing as yet!!
Top of Crich Lane mate - pretty high up here! Looking towards the south east.
-
I would say another hour or two before any actionaround here. The nearest lightning is around south Leicestershire at the moment according to the latest radar.I 'm based 5 miles north of Derby facing Sw but no activity as yet.
You can see it from high up here in Belper
-
Just seen a few distant flashes looking south east of here.
-
A few distant flashes seen from here (just north of Derby) looking south east towards South Notts
-
Still nothing sticking here. I am not expecting anything to stick now, its still wet. Oh well, i had lots in January so its somebody elses turn.
And yet less than a mile away (admittedly on slightly higher ground) the road is covered.
-
I'm just down the road in Ashbourne and it's really heavy here x
Same in Belper! Has been snowing heavily for the past 45 mins.
-
A decent covering of snow in Belper town centre now after a day of snow on and off, and the hills around Belper easily have 15-20cm of snow! Just been out for a walk up into the hills around Cromford (the A6 was clear enough to drive) and the snow up there is very deep, some drifts were thigh deep! Level snow was between 20 and 30cm.
A great day out making the most of the snow
And there is still light snow falling in Belper.
We probably walked straight past each other! I went from Belper up to High Peak junction and up the incline through Bolehill. Some of the snow up there was incredible, certainly up there with what we had in 2010 (when I actually lived up there).
-
We've been clinging to the bottom edge of this front for the last couple of hours here. Thought it would have pushed on over us a while ago - not complaining though!
-
Roads around here are pretty treacherous just now! Already an accident on Chesterfield Road.
-
Still just the odd flurry here, utterly disappointed with todays effort.
Agree but things just beginning to pick up a little now - difficult to say for how long though based on the most recent radar updates!
-
Snowing moderately in Alvaston, Derby for the past 40 mins or so.
-
Some big flakes now in Belper, and judging from the posts in here there is plenty more to come to my west.
Whereabouts in Belper are you Supacell? Can certainly verify it's coming down heavier over this way.
-
Very light snow here.
-
I guess you read what happened then.
It dramatically weakened just as it was about to hit me. The sad thing is, I'm not surprised.
It can't have been far off me either. Saw 2 big flashes off to my west (towards Ashbourne way, probably some way beyond that I'd guess as I never heard a hint of thunder).
-
We've got the hail now. Naff all else though
-
Hmm. Nothing in the end. I feel cheated!
-
It does appear to my headed my way - and it's going very dark to my South West. Fingers very much crossed here (thought we were about to have one earlier but just got the rain)

Good covering here in Belper from earlier and we look to be bang in the firing line for the remainder of the streamer (and everything else that’s out on the east coast). Could be quite an impressive total by morning at this rate.
