Epic, crazy and incredible. Spawned from nothing to a beast in 5 min. Continuous thunder, large hail for a good 20min and weather station recorded 98.8mm of rain. That's not counting the hail that bounced out as it was full.
Never seen anything like it! Bit of a clean up job now. Water was coming through the front door and in the kitchen.
A lot of Stroud is in a bad state. This is my mates house. Really bad on horns road

@SilverWolf @MrNooo don't know if I'm imagining it but can you hear very distant thunder every so often? Almost feel it rumbling rather than hear. Very odd. If so that's pretty amazing.

First rumbles of thunder over Gloucester way.

First rain in 30 days! Big drops too developed really quickly. Looks like it could start getting lively around here. Very humid and around 28°C

What time was that? Lucky you!
From years of trying to capture anything from southern central England I'm really happy with it.
About an hour ago lucky break in the clouds.
Check out the shetland webcam going crazy there

Brr! After a rise in temperature between 6.30 and 7.45 it's now going down again. -9.3
Eastington is a lot more rural so not surprised it's below -10.
Stay safe all!

Went for a walk up Juniper today (about 180meters asl) took the truck up the icy lane and parked at the farm.
Absolutely zero melt at this elevation and a winter wonderland three days after the fall, that’s extremely rare, I can only remember the snow staying like this a few times in the last 15 years.
I was hoping for some sunshine but the clouds have only just cleared.
Cows needed their troughs broken (bad farm practice tbh) they were very thirsty.
a few “fence post snowmen/lady’s as well.
Overall a beautiful, if not blooming freezing walk.
The longevity of the snow is certainly memorable! So stunning up there!
Snow cover here hasn't really changed either.
Another ice day today with a max of -1.1 currently -5.5 brr!
Popped out to get the chicken water in but didn't see any shooting stars. Too cold to stay out long!
Looking forward to tomorrow hopefully a bright sunny day!

Yea, no thaw at all Stroud. I was snowed off work today so went round to my mums to clear her path car etc, roads were still covered.
Ice day recorded on my station today max temp -0.3 dropping again now.
Not really any thaw today. Snow level still to the top of the cats legs

Well back for another winter season! Great to see familiar names popping up and to see that some of you have had some snow! ❄❄ we all get some over the next few weeks.
Had frost on the ground in the garden for the last 3 days with pretty much no thaw (north facing slope).
2m temps over the last few days
Wed max 2.7 min -5.3
Thus max 2.4 min -5.5
Fri max 1.1 min -4.4
Currently -0.9

Congrats on the good news. I suppose the weather will be immaterial, if everybody is camping whatever the weather you'll all have great fun, wet or dry, it's the day that you'll enjoy the most...
Thanks. It's going to be a fantastic day/weekend and the people are what makes the day. Would just make things easier without rain and gales. An overnight thunderstorm wouldn't be too bad though views over the Stroud valleys would be amazing!

Plenty of time for change… fingers crossed for you.
Hopefully it won’t be like those equivalent weekends in 2017, 2015 and 2011. ‘17 and ‘11 had gales a plenty.
Really hope it changes! the 10th is showing signs of improvement this morning. high pressure rise comes in a bit earlier. Marquee going up on the Wednesday so really hoping we don't get gales.

guess who is getting married on 9th September! Venue is a field at the top of a hill with about 80 guests camping all weekend.
The first start to September in years with a cut off low pressure, unusually unsettled, potentially v windy and most probably lots of rain! Couldn't make it up!
Any insights into the models/forecast over the next week would be gratefully received.

Got to a toasty -0.7 earlier. Currently -2.2 but gone up .5 a degree in the last 45 min.
Was hoping to record an ice day but not sure it will make it.
Been so pretty today with the frost but couldn't see the other side of the valley for most of it.
