the rain today radar is showing nothing over south Wales at all.
I live above 1000ft in North East Wales

Lluwchwynt!
Its blowing a blizzard!
-
still snowing steadily here, settling on cold ground, snow ground and parked cars, maybe couple of centimetres, and now beginning to settle on roads. Must be Convoy Sunday, as cavalcade of 4x4 and landrovers sped their way through probably up to Llanarmon to churn up some other part of the countryside.
back in the 1960s... Llanarmon way was still unpaved road can you believe!

Eira mân / Fine Snow
Melting on roofs though... maybe I just need better insulation!
-
Southern Slopes of the Berwyn Mountain range got pretty pasted today for many hours
.....also around Caernarfon upto Caergybi/Ynys Mon - mainly Southern side of Anglesey got some pretty deep snow considering their height above sea level
About 5-6 inches on hills overlooking Rhuthun....but must be deeper over hills towards Bala/Llanfyllin
Some fine pibonwy/ icicles forming here at the minute
-
Good luck Cymru!
Pob lwc i ti hefyd/ Good luck to you aswell
-
Was little snow falling East of Wrexham and Chester...much snow west of that though as hills rise
-
Nice pics NWales
A bad blizzard just hit here now....power is flickering, had no internet all morning so hope it doesnt go again!
The snow is just at an almost sheer 90 degree angle...big juicy flakes....this is great weather for building drifts (though snow not dry enough to blow really) on exposed ridges if anyone wants to risks photographing them
Edit: 1000 ft asl/ 300m ish....seems yet again to be magic mark where snow is sticking to most surfaces....struggling to resettle below to be honest
-
Some farmers hadnt bothered to bring in the lambs...had to pick some out of a drift they seem to get stuck in
Atrocious conditions for April above 1000 feet (305m) in Rhufoniog (cantref : conwy/denbighsire border)
4-5 inches @200m
5-6inches @250m ish
At 300 -360m (tried to reach 420m summit but failed hah) on flat ground it was between 6-8 inches
Its the Drifting thats the worse thing in the strong winds
While the main roads are passable and back roads below 1100 feet seemed slushy......above this height there was iced snow (freezing level?)
Many drifts onto higher roads, as high as the 3-4 ft hedges they pour from...one point i was walking as high as them LOL!
Saw some fairly big drifts of between 8-10ft I would guess, almost blocking roads.
I tried to reach the near 420m hill summit but a blizzard hit and i was plastered with an inch of snow so i gave up and retreated at about 360m i reckon.....god knows how deep it is up on the Berwyns above 500m lol likea different world to my increasingly slushy abode at 210m
Met office said
Little, if any, snow is expected to accumulate on roads and pavements below 200m.
but 3 inches of snow at 140m
Still snowing heavily, wet socks when i slipped into a slush pool!

Lluwchwynt/ Blizzard conditions
Mae 'na tua dwy fodfedd o eira yma @800 troedfedd
There are approx. 2 inches of snow here @ 800 ft
-
Its about 80% of this
Wow totally different world...I am 1500 ft asl North East Wales...and not had any sleet for months
-
This upper air temperature boundary is so fine it seems....I am nearly 1500ft asl...not seen a hint of sleet since early december
-
Tymheredd / Temperature: -8.4C :smilz38:
-
ha now snow for me again
an easterly wind can cause snow laden trough formation as its becomes unstable from hitting the eastern wales hills
-
Bois bach!...Managed to reach -2 C max today brrr....even with stronger sun..if we could just get some snow...sun getting stronger by the day rwan.
Temp at 18:00 = -5C

When is this cruddy rain going to stop? Freezing cold as well. It can sod off right now frankly. Well done to the lucky buggers who got snow today. Our snowless winter goes on.
Ye I think saying "east wales" got snow when most of the NE saw nothing is a little bit genrealising
If it makes you feel any better Carl we were doomed. At 420m asl it got up to 3.5C. Heavy rain currently, was never any hint of sleet.
There was snow coverings east of Shrewsbury...and South slopes of the Berwyn range...so close
-
Went on a trek to above 2000 ft asl...(630m asl).....still rain duw duw.....was still some week old ice hardened snow though
Have a look at the difference between the two scottish border upland road cams! woah (mosspaul and carter bar)
-
I'm surprised at your altitude it's raining... Guess my snow won't be lasting long then!
I think as long as you stay on the right side of the stalling front you will be ok.....its just very marginal geographically not altitudinally

If the main course is as lousy as the starter has turned out to be, then I'll be sending it back!
Aah the joys of North Wales...ignored by southern england and the south of Wales lol...still nice to hear ppl in usually snowless areas like Barry Island seeing snow
In this part of East Wales, its like a spring day, its some warm sector
-
Okay quick update.
This was forecast to be rain or Sleet in South West England. They had snow and still snowing there. Even radar showed rain where it was snowing.
Some parts of Wells and Bridgewater still getting snow right now.
Seems that although the fronts are moving as expected the cold is more stubborn.
Cold air is more dense than warm air so its not shifting quite as easy as expected, i do think it will shift thou.
As for temps later, as rain / snow band clears chance of clearing skies and ice
Don't depress me more! Living at 1400ft / 420 m asl in north east Wales and all we are getting proper is mild type rain ! LOL
-
Just to compare, its 1400 feet here (420m) in North East Wales and I not even seen a hnt of sleet
-
Rain all the way at 1400 feet (my local hill) near Corwen!

On the edge of the current 'reverse cheshire streamer!' (sadly)
