Snowing in Leatherhead
-
Bobbydog...do you think we are "in the zone" for tomorrow??..looks like we are very close to the edge judging by BBC forecast.
-
Very strange a few days ago....I work in Hailsham so drive down the A27.Brighton itself had no snow but across the other side of the A27 there was enough snow to sledge on....very weird looking on one side of the road to the other as i was driving along....I dont think any will be rain (maybe coast like me) if the snow band moves East enough to you, it will be snow
-
I assume "NORTH" "WEST" Sussex is within the RAIN band?.......
-
Snowing lightly in HailshamSend some down South please!
-
it WONT happen this time...trust me....I WISH!!!last time it snowed we got nearly 30 cm in one night LOL!!
-
Heaviest snow so far........long may it continue
-
Agreed.....I'm surprised Gatwick is closed... There's not that much coming down here...
-
Or he works for the Daily Express....Either Yamkin is right or my radar is knackered
-
I might be doing it a dis-service..i dont think we are into the "main event" yet?,,,,probably very slightly on the wet side but still crunchy underfoot and laying on the main road, even though it was wet earlier and i didnt think it would lay on the road at all
-
Hmmmmm......Same here... Dad claimed an inch of snow at 8pm at Christ's hospital... Thought he was fibbing!
-
Does it not look/feel like quite "wet" snow though?.....does to me...its fairly steady in horsham and laying on the main A281

Looks like my gut feeling and you keeping your fingers crossed has worked...i am in the amber zone nowYes, go on my son, get in there!!!!!!
-
I have a sneaky feeling we will be ok,but surely ( the way everything has chopped and changed for the last week or so ) all of the above is subject to change at very short notice?....please feel free to correct me if i am wrongHmm that's where it starts to unravel for me. I'm more confident on areas East of the South Downs, but will cross my fingers for your part of the World!
Triple point over East Sussex later? - get in there!!!!!
-
The western extent of your graph goes straight through my house!!.....so am i in the "safe zone"?
-
Are we "in the zone" WS1?Just seen the met warnings yipeeeee!!!!! :-)
Now might be the time to get some milk and bread in.
Last time we had snow in Billingshurst there was a run on the shop. People were buying everything!!
-
See SM message on MD,may put your mind at rest.....6Z gfs makes it look even more marginal!
Starting to worry a bit now.
-
Assume Billingshurst would be within "the zone " then?No I wouldn't even bother to try and guess. The eastern extent, triple point placement, rain /snow line is always going to be an on the day event. I thinh BH is favourably placed as is Eastbourne for an all snow event. Less so Hampshire and extreme coastal locations though there will be a period of time when light southerly winds predominate from Sat afternoon until early Sunday and how much surface cold remains during this time will be critical especially with the latest GFS nudging things east again.
-
Probably very near to to you QS....my wife/kids have horses in Storrington at the foot of the downs....so its perfectWhere do you go SS?
Just let the dog out the back door, he went about 10ft then came back in. Can't say I blame him!
But it has to get here first!!!
-
Where do you "Horsham-ites" go when we receive the ton of snow Bobbydog?if we get a ton of snow this weekend steve, i take back what i said last night and you are god!
For sledging etc....
-
I`m sure he is man enough to eat his own hat if he is wrong??......over to you, steveif we get a ton of snow this weekend steve, i take back what i said last night and you are god!

Agreed, but there are also other people like NS,KW,PS,TWS ( to name but a few, they know who they are ) that have also modelled, questioned and rationally thought out the permatations of these last 2 weeks and ( just about!!! ) kept me off the Prozac....nothing is for certain, even now,but certainly looking " on the up",god alone knows when these guys ever sleep, they never seem too!!Have to say, major credit due to local hero Steve Murr for making a fantastic, prescient call this morning on what the models would begin to show tonight - think everyone on the MOD forum thought he'd taken leave of his senses (including me) - but looks like he spotted something everyone else missed...
oops,forgot GP....deserves a mention
