Storm approaching Reigate from the South. Looks quite potent. Whole sky is going Black.

On the NW Radar each of these storms we've had this afternoon pop into life as they pass dorking - looks like a couple more in the way if the previous two are anything to go by - are they expected to continue into the evening?
It looks like it but surely they cant be as bad. The first was amazing the second well quite remarkable in intensity.

OK judging by the tweets around Reigate, there seems to be lots of flooding problems across the town. No wonder after that mega storm. Truely remarkable stuff.

Well that was biblical!!!! Lots of T & L and a hell of a lot of rain - - road outside is a river - just seen a police helicopter fly overhead which I thought was VERY strange... flew right into it.
Agreed something special that storm! Blue sky now approaching again so I stick my head out the door and then whack another huge bolt of lightning!!!!

Rub it in why don't you ! Actually things are pepping up here right now.....This could be my first proper storm of the year !
Second storm was/is amazing. Road is a river - from one side to the other. Constant lightning and thunder, which is still going. I see blue skies now appearing to the West.No TV though!
Saturday looks another good day for storms.

All year we wait for a decent storm and then 2 in 2 hours. Both absolutely fantastic. Still got quite a bit of thunder and lightning as I write but at least the hail has stopped.No TV though.

What !! OMG I am literally only just down the road and totally missed that !! Gutted ! 4 (and a half) rumbles of thunder is all I have had this year !
Storm number 2 here now and its packing quite a punch.

That was what you call a storm, wow - I heard some of the shops in reigate centre have flooded though.

That is the best storm Ive seen for MANY years! Torrential rain, huge hail and lots of lightning.

First rumble here today in Reigate, gone very windy too. Yesterday evening we had 2 torrential showers which dumped 1 inch in 45 mins.

Doesnt look like hitting London or Surrey, all the action is too far East.

Looks to me like Kent/Essex/EAnglia/East Coast will be the only places that might have a storm. Here in dull Reigate its been overcast and drizzling all morning. Nothing particularly heavy and definately not looking stormy. Sums up the year perfectly so far.

Heavy rain is expected to spread north-eastwards during Thursday across parts of southern England and South Wales, with torrential downpours and thunderstorms possible in places.
The public should be aware of large amounts of spray on roads and, in some places, minor flooding.

Im seriously sick of this weather, since April we have had 1 week of sun - otherwise its rained and rained. The last week has been the cherry on the cake with almost constant drizzle and cool temperatures.
The lack of storms is the biggest thing, we must have had at least 10 days worth of storms forecast and yet actually recieved 1 pathetic attempt. (2 rumbles of thunder) Every time a Spanish plume approaches from France it fails to cross the English Channel and diverts into Belgium and Netherlands leaving us with our cool cloudy mess. Its so irritating.
Oh and we still have a hosepipe ban here. I mean who in their right mind wants to water their garden when its had continual water for 3 months?

The weather channel in France isnt Meteociel related - its the ChaineMeteo and its on Canalsat (equiv of SKY) and Numericable (equiv Virgin Media) so you would need to be a subscriber to view it. You can view it on the website though.
Also the app Rainy Days on Android is a superb weather radar for Europe (inc UK) updated every 15 mins and I highly recommend it. My girlfiend often asks me if its going to rain when she is going out and by looking at the app you can work it out pretty accurately. Im sure by using this radar technology it would be possible to give very accurate local weather alerts - maybe by text message etc...

After living in France for 7 years I realise that our French friends are even more addicted to the weather than we are. I have come across some interesting ideas we can nick from them:
- A dedicated Weather Channel - Chaine Meteo which is quite popular and runs on our equivalent to Freeview. Im sure this format would work over here. I wonder why nobody is willing to take a chance on this?
- Meteociel have an observations map where users are able to post there observations on a map of France, including pictures. This is a far more interesting way than scrolling down a forum to see what others are experiencing.
- The other thing that is new is they have brought out an Android app Meteociel which is a great way at looking at all those ensembles etc on your phone.Have we in the UK got anything as good? Doubtful.
- Lastly one of the old presenters Guillaume Séchet on the Chaine Meteo TV channel has his own weather sites covering the weather for the main French cities and even London. What I find outstanding is he has produced a very detailed history of weather news for the past 100 years in France with newspaper cuttings etc that he has posted online. Use google translate and take a look. The weather Almanac is a fanatastic piece of work, almost you could say a work of art and I wonder if anything of a similar standard exists in the UK???
I think these are some great ideas that we could adopt over here. Anybody fancy starting a weather tv channel over here? Netweather TV Live?

Well its started raining here in Reigate and I can see strong convection over the North Downs. Im more hopeful than yesterday when all we got is a big black cloud and 1 drop of rain!
