Amazing in York, still coming down and I think 2" in the last 90 minutes Don't want it to stop. Went out earlier in it, love it. Tempted to wrap up and go out again but I don't think my husband will let me.

What does this mean for York?
-
There's something about Sunday nights and heavy snowfall around here. The times growing up it would snow loads and I'd be watching out the window, hoping School was closed for Monday lol

I'm in Strensall and its snowing nice and moderate. More like 2 inches here and I'm just 6 miles north of York !
Looks good for a while yet.
Cracking spell of cold.

Oh my, I'm South Bank, I went outside to check it's closer to 2 cm now on the railings outside my door.

Indeed, radar shows Hull to York eastward under very heavy snow. I'm pleased to say that i called this earlier and with dew points rising on the coast there is good evidence of an increasing easterly element pushing the heavier precipitation further inland.
We've had about 1cm here in York today, disappointed. Hopefully it will nudge a little more west to give us a bit more overnight. My head hurts from watching the radar, the heavier snow seems to stall or miss us.

Just started snowing here in york, very fine but its laying on roofs and the path outside
-
So long as this front carries on pivoting then i think that Hull and York will begin to get hammered in the next few hours as the showers just stream over them.
pretty pretty pretty please

Link please ...

I've been using the radar to try and get a grip on the movement of the front and it does appear as if the precipitation within the front is travelling NNW (as you might expect with a SSE upper flow ahead) however the front itself is moving NNE (ever so slightly east basically as it moves north) so the moral here is probably that whatever is south of you is probably what you will get.
Based on this there is somewhere between 2-8 hours of snow left.
York will see a period of moderate to heavy snow within the next hour.
Grabs chair and gets in position to watch the lampost

Hoping York gets something, seem to be missing all the good stuff tonight. Keeping my fingers and toes crossed for tomorrow..

I hope what I see on the raintoday radar comes true, York looks set to get a battering around 8pm onwards tonight :o
