Although air temp was only around 5c it felt surprisingly warm sitting in the sun at Chalkwell this pm. Warm enough for bride in off the shoulder wedding dress to have photos taken, with groom, on the beach. Didn't quite see the point of those taken with sun directly behind the couple!!!
Lack of wind made for a very pleasant walk along promenade.

Grass cut, hopefully for the last time. Well until the trees spawn their leaves.
Based upon previous years I doubt that the mower will be parked until well into December. Mowed a wet lawn (dew) today.

Very pleasant on Norfolk coast at Cromer today, felt like around 20c, strong breeze around 15:00 hastened departure back to Norwich.

Sunshine? What sunshine? Murky all day here albeit warm!

Suggest you read: https://www.rhs.org.uk/advice/grow-your-own/fruit/melonsNo rain here as yet, temp down to 13c however feels more like 8c in cold breeze.Looking daggers at me for growing them outside in the cold. Plenty of flowers but no fruit yet and I think it's too late this year now, so hubby may have won the bet. But there's always next year

Pleasant day here with temp upto 20c. Went for short walk to see elderly neighbour on way back saw both Lancasters fly past over Southend.

Damn it... stupid crappy drizzle line

This morning I drove from Benfleet to Louth and from joining A14 to arriving in Louth I had bouts of torrential rain, at times monsoon like.
60 years driving experience from the Arctic to Africa, worst weather I've ever experienced. Worse than driving at 100mph on ice, above Arctic circle in Finland!

Interesting that Icelandic Met Office wasn't showing any significant rain for East Anglia upto an hour ago now from Noon to 9pm today they are showing continuous rain of varying intensity.
-
High humidity, not bothered - I'll just switch on aircon in bedroom.
Hardly a breeze here now with just a few clouds, temp 20c.
-
Still pouring with rain & 4:30 this morning, now overcast murk with temp of 12c.
Still raining!!!
-
Pleasant day here with temp around 20c with a few clouds, note that further East, probably over sea cloud cover is extensive.
Am puzzled by talk of early Autumn as here we have several pairs of Blackbirds feeding 2nd broods.

Beautiful sunny start today albeit temp @ 8c is hardly midsummer!
-
My two thermometers are reading 24c & 26c, so perhaps it's around 25c!
Only cloud I can see is that from contrail, albeit my vision West is restricted by 60' Oaks at bottom of garden.
Second check shows a few small fluffy clouds over Kent.

Skin So Soft from Avon, not an Insect repellent as such however very effective. Scottish midges also don't like the odour.Available from Amazon.Just returned from Basildon in steady rain and near deserted roads.Hi all.....Nice day here today. Started off really nice with bright sun and clear blue skies. It clouded over as the day has gone on, but has always stayed bright and warm.Great pics bjaykent.Off out for my nightly run soon, I wonder how many gnat bites I will get tonight )-;On that note..... Does anyone know of any good repellant you can rub into your skin to stop the bites? Sensible answers only..... Haha

Better get a few thermals ordered then!!

Hardly a gesture as it was the Insurance Company that made the offer - big deal!!!£10,000.00 to fill up a hole! no wonder this country is in such a state, great gesture by the council to put a fence round it, good to see you get something for your council tax LOL!

Superb weather in Essex today no rain where I've been - Heybridge and Maldon albeit with wind around Force 4 the river was a tad choppy. Still a couple of young girls out with their Optimists (accompanied by Rescue Boat - not needed).
You do have to look out for the wildlife in these parts with all the flooding:

Temperature in Sochi today was 10 Celcius, there are many who say that it's hardly the most suitable place to stage the Winter Olympics. On a local weather note we've just had yet another torrential shower 3rd since dusk.As the Winter Olympics looms up, spare a thought for our plucky Olympians who may well have had some experience in chilly weather only by travelling a long way. Believe it or not we are expecting up to 7 medals in the snow and ice of Russia. Quite a big ask considering the deluge of durge they have had to put up with in this snowless, mild, snow deficient, flooded, windy "Winter" which has of course been Crap with a capital C, to date. How will our sportsmen and women cope in the frozen wastes of sub zero ? True grit my friends. Wish them luck. ]

Torrential rain here 20 minutes back accompanied by 3 thunder claps.
Earlier reports about blue tits led me to check my nest boxes, in one I found a near complete nest, new as I clean the boxes each Autumn.

Yes, concluded it was water vapour caused by steam escape.
