  1. Well the regionals are closing within the next few days....

That is so sad. I'll miss the place, I'll especially miss the lady who says that her boyfriend has called her from Reedham and told her it's cold. I'll also miss the lady from Milton Keynes, she's a hoot. While I'm posting I should just state that it's still not snowing here. As my alto ego would say

  2. Very cold here today as you can see by looking at my local Weather Station

Over the last couple of weeks the Model Output Discussion section of this forum has become something akin to a Dickensian style Private Gentleman's Club. Frequented only by a very select band of brothers who talk amongst themselves, while the lowly peasants peer in through the window clutching their begging bowls waiting for a crumb a comfort in the way of "It Will Snow" to be thrown out to them. It will snow on Monday in our area. You can trust me.

"I'm finishing up on this thread now for Christmas and beyond...and wish every one of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

    :smiliz64:

sorry to finish on a pessimistic note.....but I actually think our cold winter is coming to an end. It wouldn't surprise me to see a reinvigorated Atlantic by the New Year. I hasten to say that there's not much support for this really from anywhere but my gut!

Hope I'm wrong, but even if it does come about there's been enough already this winter to make it one to remember. I expect there will still be times when hopes are rising and falling in the rest of winter.... and perhaps the end of February could surprise, but I think January and the first part of February will be wet and mild RELATIVE to what December has been."

You should work for the Met Office. And if I had read your original post it would have saved me a lot of wasted time reading the Model Output Discussion. Well done.

  4. UK Outlook for Friday 11 Feb 2011 to Sunday 20 Feb 2011:

It will initially be unsettled, particularly across western parts of the UK with showers or longer periods of rain, some of which will be heavy at times. This rain will occasionally extend further east but amounts here are likely to be smaller. It will be on the mild side at first and also rather windy at times in the north and west of the UK with a risk of gales. There is then an increasing trend for it to turn generally colder through next week, with a risk of some snow, particularly over higher ground and perhaps to lower levels in the north and east. There is also a lower risk of it turning very cold in eastern parts, with a chance of some significant snowfalls.
