Forgot to add that this place: http://www.weather-watch.com/smf/index.php?theme=3&Itemid=40 has load of information on weather stations. There very helpful as well should you have any questions.

Hi Pab,
I would also recommend the WMR928NX. This you can get for about £330 or you can get the american version, the WMR968, from ebay. I've done this and it cost me £150 but you don't have any warranty, so if something goes wrong you will have to buy a new part(s). The best station you can get is the Davis VP2 but they are very expensive.
You won't able to get a weather station with an intergrated lightning detector but what you can do is either buy a boltek from here: http://www.meteorologica.co.uk/product.asp...teria=&PT_ID=82
or get a one wire lightning detector from here: http://www.hobby-boards.com/catalog/produc...&products_id=65
The one wire lightning detector is a more diy job as you have to make a cover for the detector and then wire it up. From what I've read it can also be a bit sensitive, ie it can pick up interferance from things being switched on and off if it is earthed to the house electrics. It is cheap though and does do the job. The boltek is a more out of the box detector.
Hope that helps.
PS: Could one of the mods move this to the misc weather as it will probably get more of a response there. Thanks.

I've got another question regarding the Photo Comp which was formerly known as the Quarterly photo comp. Didn't see the point in starting another thread. Was there voting for this? Its not in the competition section anymore but there are references to it when searched on google. Obviously it can wait till after the Storms comp is finished. Sorry if I'm being a pain, just curious.

I would move the sensor closer. I found that when I had my WS3600, the 100m transmission claim was rather optimistic and I had many problems. Thats not to say La Crosse aren't good its just that I had problems with it for my location.

Hi,
Not too sure if I've put this in the right place, but can't find anywhere else to ask.....
Don't know if any of you have the above, but I think I have a problem with mine.
It has 2 cloud icons on the top of the screen (blue and orange, for some reason). When the weather is clear they disappear, which is ok, but when the forecast changes, the blue clouds appears, but the orange one just flashes. I have left it for 24hrs and there's no change....and there's no mention of this in the manual....
To get it back to normal, I have to reset the unit.
Just wondered whether its faulty, or a 'feature'?
Here's a link, just so you know which model I'm on about:

Thanks.
Hmm, I've not had any experience with this station so this is only a guess. Could it mean its going to be partly cloudy? But then you would expect the sun to be showing as well.
Try asking here: http://www.weather-watch.com/smf/index.php?theme=3&Itemid=40 They are very helpful and will try their best to answer your question.

The thread is still locked down below. I don't think voting did take place <_<
Leave it with the Team; although voting on December will start shortly too. Something will get sorted out
Thanks shuggee.

Just a quick question. Did voting ever take place for this competiton? Can't remember if it did or didn't.

I finished installing my second weather station today. Its a OS WMR968 that I bought of ebay from America. Cost £150. Its exactly the same as the WMR928NX that is available over here but obviously you don't get the support if you buy from America. The WMR928 costs over £300 here. I previously had a La Crosse WS3600 and had many problems with it so I wouldn't recommend that. I don't know what the WS2500 is like so can't comment on it. The Matrix II that dazza provided a link to is a rebadged La Crosse model. What you've got to ask yourself, is what readings you wish to measure and then find a station that gives you the most for the cost. Generally the order for quality of the weather station goes Davis, Oregon Scientific, La Crosse. Although that isn't true for every model. A La Crosse will give you the most bang for your money and are great for beginners in weather stations.
I hope that helps.

Oooh that was difficult too choose. I've gone with No 1 but every single one is brilliant.

Got a PM from Paul and the voting will be sorted out during the week. So if you haven't entered I'd get them in sharpish

Might be worth PM'ing a mod so that it is brought to their attention B)

Have PM'd you.

can anyone tell me how to up load the video of yesterdays funnel cloud so all can see the footage i seem to be having some problems.
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Do you have Windows Movie Maker? If so you can make a movie in there and then when you come to post on here you can add it as an attachment. It compresses the file so it should fit on here. Alternatively you could email it to me and I'll do it for you.
