Very happy for all of you experiencing some awesome storm activity today, regardless of whether I get any or not (I can't believe the amount of whingeing and moaning that goes on in this forum sometimes!).

Had a nice little deluge here around 9.30am (just outside Ashford) with a bunch of thunder and a little hail mixed in ... overjoyed to feel the edge come off the temperatures, although it's rising quickly again now - and with added humidity.

Well after a winter of near misses, we've been getting a right pounding today in Appledore, and there's no signs of it letting up - if anything the best is yet to come. Some insane drifts where the gaps in the hedge lines has allowed the wind to pick up & dump it's bounty on the country lanes. Goes from an inch or two to a foot or so in the gaps and some great winddrift shapes forming.

Certainly hammered down for an hour or two last night here in Appledore, but there's little more than 1cm of slush to show for it today.
Shame it didn't go down like this amazing timelapse from the East Coast (US) ...

Down here it's been a pretty disappointing outcome from a series of fun-to-follow 'nearly' events to be honest. Each time the snows came they were either to the West, East or North. The best we managed was around 8cm on the ground after Sunday's light but sustained snowfall. Ever since then there's been a steady thaw and there's just a smattering left amongst the green green grass.
Netweather's kept me entertained though - particularly enjoyed people's confessionals about moving house on weather grounds. It made me feel slightly less obsessive and perhaps not the most bonkers in the room after all.

Just started snowing here in Appledore south of Ashford ... bodes well for a flurry for the mid-Kent crew.

Looking like a complete bust here South of Ashford now. We had a flurry about an hour ago, but there's nothing to show for it except green grass. Big shame.

FINALLY snowing in Dratford (just!)
Dratford. A town built on disappointment?
Still awaiting the white stuff here between Ashford and Rye, but if it got much darker we'd just call it night time and move on.

We can but hope ... we've been under a thunderstorm warning every day for 5 days here but barely a drop of rain and no real thunder other than the occasional, distant sky-mumble.
