  1. Mega storm just through here in Shrewsbury. Watched it come in from a hill south of town with lots of sheet lightening. Couple of ICs too. Then scampered back home trying to beat the rain but got clobbered in the car as we could see more ICs around.

Rain was epic with some high winds at the peak. Heavy Rain through now and watching the flashes at it heads north and east.

Quite a show and good as we really had nothing here in 2022 so far.

  2. Noted the chat on what schools might do with this heat. My daughters secondary school up here in Shropshire where it’s not predicted to be highest already today sent an email out today informing kids to come in PE kit all this week. Pretty strict on uniform normally.

    Sensible

  3. Squall line just through Cromer (here on holiday) and accompanied by heavy hail and a rumble or two of thunder. Madness for 10 mins.

Just as was getting a flood warning call from the EA for back in Shrewsbury where we are heading for major flooding for the third consecutive year….

Its still snow in Bomere Heath, did go light and start slushing up where the puddles had been but still covered everywhere else. Seems to be going back to bigger flakes, radar suggests its not over.

Hope we don't see another of those phantom temp rises as soon as it stops snowing, there is clearly cold air around that was potent enough to turn 10C and rain to sticking snow, it should be embedded enough behind the system to keep the temp down overnight at least

Must be a town vs Country thing because it’s just rain here, slowly washing it all away. Roads clear other than slush. Can see it falling off cars and surfaces too. Temp has to have crept up a bit. Hanging on the grass but the complete white over we had is long gone now.

Glad it’s good out in the sticks though

Still the continual rain isn’t going to help flooding issues over the next two days...

Snow in Worcester (lower than here) but apparently nothing in Ludlow (about same height) or Minsterley (a bit higher). Not an altitude thing this one I don't think, it really did just jump over us that band. Its returning as rain because there's no heavy stuff in it now. Terrible fail.

    Fair.

That said it’s is very lightly snowing now (near town center). That’s something I guess.

There was about 15 minutes of very wet non sticky stuff about 3am as that band jumped over Shropshire to park on the M6 for hours.

Seeing pictures of slight cover around Newport and Bridgnorth but nothing at all from Wellington westwards. And yes, as it moves back west its drizzling... Epic fail Shrewsbury yet again, Dec 2017 seems a long time ago now!

All about the altitude here as usual I fear.  A shame but plenty of winter left yet.

The floods at the start of 2020 was enough weather Drama for Salop for one year to be fair!
