  1. Hoping for a storm this afternoon here in Reigate, Surrey after yesterdays none event. Got to say the GFS favours East/West Sussex and anywhere East on a line from Kent to East Anglia as the main areas likely for some activity.

GFS yesterday was spot on with the storm focus last night in Far North West of France near Lille and Belgium and predicting little to hit the South East of the UK.

    I'll second that!

  2. About 20 min ago we had a proper thunderstorm, constant lightning with torrential rain! Still hearing thunder now but rain not as heavy, difficult to see which way it's heading though as very murky. Not surprised to hear of flooding in Horsham, if this keeps up for the next few hours there could be quite a bit of flooding, especially flash flooding.

I think you have sent it to me!

  3. Haevy rain continuing now since 8am, thunder and lightening observed about half an hour ago but nothing since then. Jimmyay I think yoru too far east for this as like you say it's gradually heading NW, even though the low level cloud is coming from the NE!! I think we've had at least an inch here this morning, big puddles everywhere but nothing too serious thankfully (at the moment!)

Still thundering here, V loud now. witnessed something strike very close to Tesco, Hookwood this morning about 9.15. Sounded like a massive explosion.

  4. I'm exactly the same as other peoples comments on here. Glad to see that there are other people, makes me feel less of a freak. I dread the other half being away on business in the summer months, because I know that sods law there will be a storm during the night when I'm on my own. I have an almost obsessive fascination with storms too. Very strange and obviously linked psychologically somehow, maybe to a childhood experience but can't remember anything specific. By the way fear of thunder is called Brontophobia and fear of lightning is Astrophobia.

  5. I know this is a forum for storm reports, but I feel a rant coming on. This year has seen some great storms across the UK. Not one, not even one, has been more than the odd rumble in the far south east. Every single storm on the radar has passed to the n, s, e or w. I must be in somekind of microclimate here. I'm glad all you lot have seen some decent storms, but spare a thought for me, who hasn't seen or heard anything like a storm for nearly 3 years. Boo hoo. In fact, we never get any unusual weather here. BORING. I'm going to move. Now.
