Hi all. Not sure what the radar showing but I can confirm it's snowing in Ashbocking, Suffolk (N of Ipswich) Pretty big flakes and when the wind blows looks quite heavy. its definitely more than a few flakes in the wind anyway. Still a bit of frost on the ground but can't see it settling or lasting very long. I feel very honoured though I must say! Met had me down for heavy snow for this period last night, then changed it to light snow, then this morning to sleet...guess it will turn back to sleet if it carries on as temps rise. Good luck to you all Oh. Its stopped! Haha .Still... feel very lucky to have seen it at all!

Three Counties & East Anglia Regional Discussion - January 20th 2013>

Just measured getting on for 7 inches on a flat surface out of the way of 'drifts', which includes previous falls, maybe 4 inches today. I'm amazed at the persistance of this and have to say the predictions for my area are pretty spot on. Nice one and much apreciated! Looks bloody brilliant out there and still coming down, congrats a ll- 767 replies

suffolkboy how you faring? Turned in to quite a decent fall here by dusk. A very nice top up of a couple of inches, prob more. I don't recall seeing such persistant heavy small flaked snow for such a length of time and accumulatiing so well before. (i'm 27). Mind you I grew up in london and am used to getting only occasional decent falls by bigger wetter flakes, heavier and shorter falls. Nice seeing actual snow fall in the day time as well as all previous proper snow in this spell has been overnight in this location. Glad so many locations got some after a frustrating wait. What thoughts for tonight in Suffolk? All the best.- 767 replies

SuffolkBoy are you there??! What do you think for tonight and tomro out our way? Any chance? You were right last night BTW - i was rewarded with a further 2 inches at some point during the early hours..nice suprise. As some are saying today was a bit of an anti climax after all the warnings and hype (I know lots doubted it would reach us lot but I thought we'd grab a couple of cm!)... I keep checking met office forecasts for Helmingham Hall (practically next door) which kept delaying the heavy snow for here throughout the day, but having just checked the latest update goes for 9 HOURS OF HEAVY SNOW from 12 -9am.....HEY? Looking at the forecasts on the tele and comments in here etc sounds like the main event is over? Any ideas why the met still sticking with this? Notice the SE thread talking about stuff coming N through Kent etc. Anyhow good luck all, if not tonight, bring on Sunday!- 796 replies

Nothing to report yet in Ashbocking, N of Ipswich as yet. Actually had odd icey snizzle stuff about half an hour ago, was too embarressed to admit it though! As you say i guess a localized event so far. Back to the security light...Good luck to all of you for tonight and tomro!
