  1. Usual boring sunshine and showers all day, then about 18:50, a lightning bolt hit the school opposite our house. Heck of a bang, all the power went off, alarms sounding etc. Really upset the local birds as well, all the seagulls and pigeons were flying round in circles and screaming. No other rumbles or lightning before or since.

  2. Good grief! Sitting here minding my own business about 10 mins ago, had been keeping an eye on the Nowcast site, nothing much happening, when suddenly the computer, sky box, router etc all went off, house alarms in road all going off, crack of thunder. Extremely heavy rain (got to an inch deep on the patio, deeper on the road outside as drains couldn't cope). Sadly not much in the way of lightning. All appears to have passed over now. Livened up a quiet sunday morning!

As I type another flash and rumble has just happened, probably sensible to turn off the computer now!

  3. Not such a good show on the Wirral toady (although I'm trying to monitor from an internal office!). It's just started raining, and we've had a few rumbles, the strike alert has gone off a few times but it seems quite random, from overhead to 48 miles. Still have high hopes though, cos I've got a banging headache which normally means something will happen!

  4. At last - a storm here on the Wirral!!! The only complaint was not enough cg, I can't capture all that air to air stuff on video (don't like getting wet!). At least now I have the sound of a thunderstorm on the video to play back to remind myself as we hardly ever get storms here (they skirt round us with monotonous regularity, I blame those Welsh hills).

  5. It;s just gone very dark and muggy looks like the storm is heading in my direction (CHESTER)

Oh please, let it be heading this way!! I've been waiting for the last couple of hours (well, the last couple of days!) - yet again very muggy, strike alert beeping (although not as close now as it was at 20:30), I can't believe we've had nothing at all here yet! I've even got the usual pre-storm headache, so here's hoping!

  6. Oooh, this is like slow torture!!! Met office put out a severe weather warning for here, pressure is dropping, strike alert is going off semi-regularly, but STILL no sign of anything interesting. I should have driven over to Manchester, you guys are having far more fun!!
