Heading for the coast this evening. Like Mapantz, i’m not expecting to see storms there tonight, just a lot of heavy rain.

Much more chance here in Wilts. So for my fellow Wiltshire and east Somerset resident posters (and anywhere else in our region) here enjoy if one or more show up.

 Andy Bown Yeah, I’ve got two loads of washing waiting to go on the line. Hoping for an improvement later. At least with the wind it should dry out quickly.

Absolute shocker of a day here. It’s hardly stopped raining since the start of the day. 2 batches of thundery activity in the past 24 hours. 

I do wonder with the amount of rain that’s fallen if a yellow warning could have been issued. Causing issues on the railways and doubtless on the roads too.

Well certainly no chance of getting any washing dry outside today. Miserable day out there. Glad I did it all yesterday now, wasn’t planning to though. The appearance of the sun persuaded me and I’m so glad it did.

 *Stormforce~beka* Given the right conditions yes. Best of course is sunshine, bit of breeze and low humidity. The latter plays a big part on a cold but sunny day. It can be surprising just how quickly washing will dry given dry air even if the temp is only a few degrees.

Generally it takes a lot longer in the winter as you’d expect and you need to finish drying in the house in the evening.

Yup, two days ago it looked like today was down for stone grey cloud, yesterday it changed to light cloud and this morning full sunshine. It actually felt pleasantly warm in the sun around early afternoon. Beautiful day.

Agree with both Alderc and Andy as there were some very strong winds at times last night. I can only guess we weren't under the yellow warning as the worst of the winds were in the middle of the night?

Just popped into the MOD thread and almost got hit by a passing tumbleweed. Says all you need to know about future winter prospects.

I’ll just be happy for dry weather now. Passed caring about seeing snow now.

Isn't it always the way, when there's wind and rain on the way, the yellow warning is able to be issued a good few days out.

That's the plan, enjoy the last few days of dry walking weather before the wellies come out of the cupboard again!

Disappointed that this dry spell is coming to an end. Would have been great to have got high pressure to stick around for a good few weeks to get us to or near to spring. Oh well.

I think the only model worth following now regards this weather system for Tuesday/Wednesday is UKV and I guess also Arpege.

I sort of suppose we should be grateful we’ve managed potentially not one but two mainly dry weeks before the Atlantic makes its unwelcome return.

Can’t remember the last time we had two consecutive mainly dry weeks, September??

With all the recent flooding that is definitely something to be grateful for.

I think their treats will come from a northerly direction. Some of the Northern forums might be a bit busier than our own over the next week or so.

Met still talking about ‘a risk of snowfall across southern parts of the UK’ on Wednesday.

Struggling to see that myself based on the latest model runs. Not that that means anything, I just wonder how big that ‘risk’ is now compared to a couple of days ago.

What a beautiful day it’s been. Was able to wear walking boots rather than wellie boots for the first time in goodness how long this afternoon now the ground has dried out a bit and frozen up.

Would love to see snow, but proper snow, no marginal slushy mess. I’d rather keep the dry conditions that we’ve waited so long for unless it’s a decent note worthy snowfall. I can’t get excited over a light dusting that melts a leaves everything wet again.
