I'm returning from a business trip in Munich on Tuesday evening, flying into Heathrow about 8pm. Will I get home to SE Kent or be stranded ?????

I just drove past Farthing Common, storm watchers out in force with views of Dungeness and the coast one side and the downs the other.
I was poo picking after riding my horse this evening but thought it not a good idea being in the middle of a field with a metal wheelbarrow and thunder and lightening directly overhead

The rain seems to have bypassed me. Impressive fireworks though - watching from my patio with a glass of wine

Where did the rain come from Thought it was going to be BBQ weather today.

It's snowing lightly in Hythe at the moment but not settling. Quite large flakes.
Settled up the Downs just a few miles away from Hythe. Nice surprise getting up this morning.

I think I'd sum that up as a tradegy Thin Ice!! I feel for you. I had the pleasure of skiing up on the Zugspitze a fews years back and it's a spectacular experience, from going up on the "Eagles Dare" cable car and the views from the centre at the top, seemingly precariously perched on the edge. Here's a couple of pics. The first is the cable car and you can see the centre on the top with it's mast. The second is from the top and shows the centre with the spectacular view over the Alps.
Back on topic and it's rain showers on and off with the NE'ly feeling freezing. High looking like 4.3C. Tonight will be very icy as wet pavements and untreated roads freeze up. Will probably be the coldest night of the winter so far.
It is a tragedy. So much so that it's the first time I've posted, having been a member for years and years! Lovely pictures, I would have been on that cable car today, instead I had to suffer the humiliation of being 'decontrolled' at Gatwick airport :-(
Can anyone console me with the merest hint of a flake before the end of this winter?

Not only did we not have any snow in the Kent downs but I was due to fly to Innsbruck this morning for a work conference up the Zugspitze but pre booked taxi was cancelled at the minute. By the time I sorted another one we hit the rush hour and I missed the flight by 5 minutes. My colleagues keep texting me to say how much it's snowing up the mountain :-(
i bet that was my only chance to see the white stuff in three winters. Hail yesterday doesn't count :-(

Stelling Minnis, Kent Downs -14.7.
Drove home from Heathrow late last night after business trip to Munich. Blizzard conditions M20 between Maidstone and ashford, lorry drivers far too fast and consequently had to navigate a jack knifed lorry almost completely traversing the motorway between J8 and 9. Idiots!!!!
Came off at J9 (had to another accident) and drove through ashford and A20 towards Folkestone on lovely virgin snow and no traffic.
