well with Gavin displaying his usual array of high pressure charts for next week spring and summer is on its way so I'm going to dig out my shorts and pack away the winter clobber lolRoll on spring ay? we've had winter seemingly for over 2 years now lol
-
A trend to slightly drier weather is possible into February especially on the Aberdeen ensemble this would tie in with the met office's thoughts of the north will probably see drier than average conditions for much of the period.
It wasn't a dig guys I know what it shows but some browsetrs of the site may not, just a little commentary when showing a chart would nice.

12z ensembles
Thanks for that Gavin, but comments on the charts would be as appreciated as I think most members can view these. For the less learned what do these show.
Sorry for the comment mods but just posting a chart/graph/table with no comment really Tutes me off

I'm living up on Park Rise next to Western Park now mate and it's readily turning into the biggest snow event I have ever witnessed in Leicester ever. (I'm 24, born here and lived here all my life) It's absolutely teeming it down now, worse than it has done all day! If this does stick around all night and tomorrow like the forecast suggests... There could be some MASSIVE amounts here. Sunday looks like another big event on the models at the moment as well. I'm like an excited child Looking out the door and window every 5 minutes
Luckily i am old enought to remember 1984 and 1991 where we had bucket loads in Leicester but this could be up there with those events if this carries on how long it is predicted to, 2010 was brilliant for cold but we never really got the full impact of the snow is it our turn finally. Looked at the Met site and they don't have us down for any snow tomorrow but it would appear they are unsure as the last update to there site was at 14.00????

I've just cleared mine and my neighbours path and no word of a lie... There is 10cm+ on the grass. On the paths that I cleared there looked to be about 6-7cm and that's only what's fell since this morning! I can't believe how much we have got.
I'm currently in the city centre and we have a decent accumlation here and it never usually settles in the centre so can't wait to get home and see how much we got, been a good few years since walked home from work in heavy snow can't wait!!!!!

Andy I am really shocked by how much we have here in Leicester its usually the snow Abyss of the Midlands, and it certainly don't seem like stoping anythime soon
-
According to radar snow should start picking up a little here soon. Wouldn't be hard.. these are the smallest flakes ever witnessed, millions of the buggers, but they're sub mm in size. Barely even see them using a lampost.
Haha i know its like a mist its been doing it since about 6.30 and the car has only just got a thin covering on it, you really do have to look hard to be able to see it, whats the radar showing them kmanmx ?

andy the stuff we have comin down at the minute would have to be non stop for a year to get 1cm oh well mate it looked promising an hour ago
-
Accoding to the recent update andy from the met snow till midnightish can't see it myself but we will see
-
Tellow u should b ok mate I'm in the city centre and there is steady snow fall starting to come down
-
Andy snow flake alert wafer thin but it's a start
-
Andy I think that Leicester snow shield is back in full working order, met updated not long ago still showing heavy snow for Leicester but wether it can get past the shield is another thing
-
yes andy a good one for leicester for a change makes up for the cr@p result today, still coming down aswell failrly heavy
-
Where abouts in Leicester are u mate where we are near fosse park it's bucketing down, as u say though the best is hopefully still to comeThis is the unspectacular situation in Leicester. Only just getting started to be fair as far as the forecasts are concerned.
-
Started now in Leicester very small flakes icing sugar stuff but it's a start
-
Andy just went outside -5c baltic, do you think the pitches up the park will be o.k for us to play footy tomorrow lol no more local league games for a few weekends by the look of it
-
looks decent for a change for leicester have no doubt that will change once our deflector shield is up and running
-
So, which will last longer -- an England innings or Midlands snow? A tricky call!
go for the snow mate similar to a peterson innings shows great potential but all over after 5 minutes
-
Andy lol
us on the midlands forum have to cheer ourselves up somehow through the knowledge all our football teams are s**t an so is the weather.
-
the way the cricket was blink and you'll miss a whole innings lol
-
a similar sort of routine i was looking at radders lol, what time do you think the snow will start hitting us i know your slightly further west but not that far
-
Anyone bothering with the 0z and a late night of sorts? I'll be up for the cricket at 5?
i am mate but how long is the cricket gonna last lol
-
from the posts on snow section of the forum the charts shown on there look asthough the midlands could do well tomorrow night, for some of you seasoned model watchers what does the week ahead look like cold or mildish
-
lol aj i thought that, Gillette and bics profits will go through the roof with the sale of razor blades

You beat me to it on both accounts Summer Sun, John holmes and others have put some excellent learning material on that thread its a great read if you want to learn the basics of charts etc.
and gibby puts his own view point forward what is totally unbiased ,but it is always best not to get excited by charts as they constantly change.
There are some fantastic charts for cold on offer but i think alot of users have got carried away after for 2009, 2010(anything less than a foot of snow is a nightmare) lets be honest after the 2011 and 21012 november/december we are in a great position looking at the hemisphere charts. here in leicester we didn't even get a frost in 2011 and here we are moaning if theres going to be snow in november i.e autumn.
